  1. Move from Victoria to Toronto - (smart way movers/provincial movers).

I was initially happy with Provincial Movers/Smart Way Movers (Brandon), who provided good phone service to me. The move date got mixed up and then fixed and the move happened. But 2 pieces of furniture were broken and Brandon has advised that he sent this to management, but after a couple of months, still no response. I am simply asking for $100 which is what it cost me to get the chair and mirror stand repaired, but neither Brandon or anyone else is responding. So stupid really, as I would not recommend them to anyone and my daughters have lots of friends looking for movers.

  2. I only wish a no star was an option.

This company is incompetent, deceitful, unprofessional, thieves.

We scheduled a move and were told not to unload our large safe (approx. 1000 lbs empty) so when they arrived we were told to unload. They did not have the manpower nor the skill to move this safe. In turn, we had to have neighbors help and they still did damage to the house. The house was sold and we had a four-day window to remove our contents and they knew we were at their mercy.

To watch unqualified men treat your belongings with such disrespect was horrifying not to mention a sickening experience.

We received a call they were two hours away and they would like the night off and would see us first thing in the morning. We had no choice so we agreed.
They called in the morning saying they were just getting up they got really drunk and they were headed for breakfast then would be there in a few hours.

Finally, they arrived 2 weeks later than scheduled for our new location in BC. We were told they needed $300 CASH or it would not be unloaded. We called the head office but we just got the runaround and paid the $300 to be done with them.

The safe had been broken into and the door was reinforced with straps to hold the contents and close the door. Without a security code, the bolts were unable to allow proper closing of the door.
Once again they did not have the manpower to move the safe or to complete the moving so they found two men on the street that they hired to assist them. A neighbor also came to the rescue to provide a trolly and skill to move our safe.
No concern about liability or our belongings. One of the men had a woman with them that sat outside reading the contents on the boxes asking far too many personal questions. A little eerie moving into a new house.

A number of items were stolen and a great deal of damage to the safe itself when pried open.
There was damage to countless items (too large for me to pack-shark, gym equipment etc) they had packed these items and charged us for this special packing.

Three large boxes arrived that was NOT ours. Luckily we were able to contact the owner who was smart enough to have his name/contact info on the box. This person was told by Provincial Movers it was being sent to them - in transit, which of course it was not, it still remained in our garage.
We had to ship it to them COD because the company never reached out to us. We called them regarding these boxes but they did not care nor did they want any part of paying to reroute them to their owner.

Many items of ours never arrived which we did keep a record of with photos of all the damage as well.

We had several cases of liquor from a home collection with many valuable bottles never opened. The liquor cases were pried open many of which were missing, and to our horror, several were drank and returned empty while many just noticeably drank.

One of the movers came into the house and informed me (wife) he wanted one of the bottles from the cases that they were moving when he finished.
Needless to say, I wasn't very nice after noticing how much was already stolen with the pried entry of several cases and visibly no bottle there.

A police report with the RCMP was done on this nightmare and everything was documented. They were awesome to deal with.

Forms are filled out once everything is on the truck that you have to sign off on but it really is a bit of a guessing game from what I could see. When they pick up your contents codes are assigned to all boxes and items to cover themselves, I eventually found out their meaning. Everything you have even the things that are packed and cannot be seen are all damaged, dented, scratch etc. Apparently, nothing is in perfect condition regardless of how new or pristine condition they were.

Also, all of your contents are removed from the original truck and added to another truck with other customers. We were never told this, which really increases the chance of theft, breakage or misplacement of boxes.

Provincial Movers are the most incompetent, unprofessional company hands down, every step of the way proceeding with the initial hiring.

After reading all the fine print, filing a claim and numerous phone calls to this company we know it will remain just a very valuable lesson learned.

  3. Beware!

We used this company, based in Ontario, to move from BC to Alberta.
We booked this company for a move on Sept 30th and paid our $100.00 deposit. On Sept 28th I called to confirm the day and time and was told that it was too early to confirm, but yes we were scheduled for the 30th and that they would call on the 29th to give us a time.
No call on the 29th was ever received, so on the morning of the move I called and was given the name of the driver who was to be moving our goods. He said that he was in Saskatchewan, heading to Calgary, and there was no way he could be in Kamloops for our move. I called the moving company again and explained this to the lady on the phone and was told "why are you getting mad at me?" She then had the manager call and tell us that the pick up originally scheduled was a 'no go' for that day, but they would send a truck tomorrow at 8am.
8:00 am came and went..finally at 3:30pm the movers arrived. The 2 men who moved us were pleasant. They were from another moving company. He explained that Provincial was not able to complete the move so the contract was sold to Mid West movers.
I would not recommend Provincial, based out Ontario, for your moving needs. Please beware! I am not sure what is up with this company, but customer service is not their priority.

  4. I would give zero stars if I could.

If you're ever thinking about hiring this company for a move just go ahead and shoot yourself now. I stupidly read reviews after having given a deposit cause I thought hey that's a really low quote! biggest mistake ever! I asked "why are there so many bad reviews" and one of the many random fellows who work for this company said "we have so much business and history, all our good reviews just don't have time to post" hmm fishy.. fist off they con you into a $100 "packaging fee" and tell you if your item gets damaged in the move and they didn't "do the packaging" you're not getting reimbursed, so I paid the fee. my stuff was picked up october 20 and supposed to arrive in vancouver from toronto 7-10 days later. it didn't end up leaving toronto until one week later and I was told another 7-10 days later. today had marked 4 days passed the 10th, I called and another random fellow said "ill figure out where the truck is and someone will call you." all day, no call, finally at 5pm a random calgary number calls me and says they are swamped and they will drop it off in the next 3 hours - at 8pm pitch black night time. I said okay, you're supposed to give me a day notice, but I was able to have them put the stuff in the garage. when they got there they wouldn't unload until they were paid. they were 2 sketchy guys, not the same that picked up, and were extremely rude and rushing me through everything. they kept hounding me to pay cash and I wasn't comfortable, when I wanted to swipe my card they guy said so what is it "savings, checkings" I was amazed and said "im not telling you that". another red flag..my boxes marked fragile were thrown upside down. I noticed my tv stand wasn't taken out yet, and then they magically found it. this guy forced me to write down "all furniture good condition" and like zipped outta there all rushed. I had no time to check anything. he left and I realized he didn't give me my tv. I called and he said "are u sure u have a tv" I said OF COURSE, I PAID THE EXTRA FEE TO PACKAGE IT. he says "okay okay, im coming back" he then proceeds to tell me hes doing me a favor and that tv wasn't written on one of my lists, but on the other. I full on believe this man was intending on keeping my tv. HERES THE BEST PART.. IT SHOWED UP BROKEN !! the guy said apparently he told some guy named steve and tried to get me to sign something else, I was like no way! so now a email to their "info" account, and we'll see what happens next. seems like alot of people are being burned by this company. for gods sake, don't let them fool you, I was quoted 600 and billed 1170 and they held my stuff ransom and wouldn't give it until I paid it off. DONT GO WITH THE "CHEAPER" GUYS, THEY ARE THAT WAY FOR A REASON!! NEVER EVER EVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY ! GARBAGE SCAMMERS !

  5. All Boxes Opened.

Arranging things went smoothly, though the contact person was hard to get a hold of and I couldn't get a delivery time and day until the day before (needed to book the elevator).

Once the stuff arrived, all the boxes were torn and many of the plastic bins were broken. Everything had been searched, including my files, jewelry and valuables; they just threw stuff back into the boxes and bins in a mess. It's a good thing I'd cut out all references to credit accounts before I left. They also broke my large wooden/metal shoe rack, one of my framed prints and a prized ceramic egg and stand were missing (though I found a broken edge of the stand). The tables and bed frames were scratched and dishes broken. They said because I packed things myself I couldn't claim anything.

I will never go with mover's according to their online quotes again, unless many reviews indicate they're reliable.

  6. Customer service stops the second they receive your deposit.

Repeated assurances of making your move as painless and smooth as possible, with full dedication to the customer, stopped with the receipt of my security deposit. Since then, none of my emails have received a reply, and trying to arrange for my things to actually be delivered to me from storage has taken days of my time, and left me in my new house without furniture for 2 weeks, and postponing all plans to try to accommodate the movers.

I have been given three estimated delivery times, but none have been followed through. This morning, I received the rudest phone call, informing me that there has been another delay. When I told the person that this new date won't work because I have plans, they informed me that they just won't deliver my things then, and don't have time to argue with me, and threatened to hang up. Now I have to change all my plans for the day, because they also cannot give me an estimated delivery time. After this latest experience, I'm very worried about how my things have been cared for while in storage, and can only hope that things most important for me will actually get to me in the end.

I'm left feeling abused and powerless with a service I have paid a fair price for, and would absolutely not recommend this company or any of their associates to anyone.

  7. Just Don't Do it!!

At first they were excited to book our move. nice and friendly. we had a schedule pick up for the 27th a Sunday before my husband would leave. we were told we would receive a call the day prior as to when the ruck would get there. we waited all day Saturday.. no call. I called the office its not open on weekends. no emergency phone number but there is an email. I sent one on Saturday night.. didn't hear anything. again on Sunday morning as we weren't sure what was going to happen book a new company? what if the truck shows up we stayed home all day. finally Monday rolls around I called the office to find out what was going on. they took my name and number. an hour and a half later I call them back to be put on hold for another 20 mins. they finally came back on and told me the truck broke down. I asked why the driver didn't call to let us know they didn't give a straight forward response. they offered to pick our stuff up on the 10th of the next month, I needed to be out of my place by the end of the moth that was booked and I would be 2 provinces away. they made no other efforts to make things right. they have yet to refund our deposit that they took quickly enough.

  8. Do Not Deal With Them.

Very poor experience. I booked this company 3 weeks ahead of my cross Canada move. 4 days prior to the move date itself - they emailed me saying move has been postponed from Saturday to Monday (and I was flying out and completely moving out of Sunday, so I physically would not be present on Monday). In response to my frustration they said that 4 days notice is considered to be more than enough and they do not have any other alternatives and that I should cancel my plane tickets (of course they will not be covering any costs of that). I decided to cancel my booking with them and I had to search for new moving company 4 days before my move - and I was lucky enough to find it! Anyway - 5 minutes after I found new company and paid deposit - Provincial movers called me and said that they found truck to pick my stuff up on Saturday as was agreed before. Of course I have not agreed - I wanted my deposit back. Now, I must say - it took them 2 weeks and my multiple phone calls and hours on hold before I finally got e-transfer with my deposit back.

Service is not there, they are not following through with their commitments, they are putting their clients through much stress prior to actually checking all possible options. Do not do business with this company.

  9. Worst Customer Service anyone can imagine.

Well even after complaining to BBB about this company, there is no action for almost 2 months.

Well I believe this company does not even deserve customers. No wonder they have "F" rating in BBB.

I want to start mentioning STEVEN's name who is a awful person when it comes to customer service and surely needs to go back to school before working in the industry. You might find his name when you read several reviews about this ridiculous guy.

This company approached me like every other company for moving, offering me with the low competitive rate and basic coverage. So I booked them. Unfortunately, I was out of province at the time of moving and did not realize there was some packing to do as I was making arrangements for my family. However, at the time of packing some called me and mentioned that there are charges applicable. I was okay but I did tell them please include official prices for everything in the final invoice.

They did not send me the scaling ticket for a week so I was following up with that. On the invoice they charged $600 additional for packing. Brenda (receptionist) over there sent me an e-mail, typed the prices with wrong calculations.I asked her that the information she sent me is wrong so please send me official prices like every other moving company usually provides or it's on their website (FYI: There're no packing material prices/labor on their website).

Not even once I asked for reducing the price or a discount but I wanted official information and not just prices typed on an e-mail. That's when I called the company again to understand why they are sending me incorrect information and no scaling ticket as they were not responding, transferring me to accounts back and forth and I had to call/e-mail again and again to follow up. (No respect when dealing with customers)

After a week I called the company again because of no response and changing statements about prices, labor. Even though Brenda was in the office, this rude guy Steven picked up the phone, after speaking to Brenda mentioned that she's unavailable and started arguing and yelling at me thinking that I'm asking for discount. I told him that I do not want to argue and he doesn't need to talk to me in that manner while I'm ready to pay everything. I just want them to send me official scaling ticket with correct prices and information.

To this his reply was that "I want to argue because you put me in the mood of arguing and I don't want you to bargain with Brenda". I again mentioned that I'm not bargaining and I'm paying for the moving. His reply, "Of course you will pay. You're not doing any favor to me with paying."

Surprisingly most depressing customer service I experienced I must say, as these days customer service is the most important learning for businesses.

Company's owner really needs to take stern steps against this guy STEVEN, in order to avoid embarrassment/harassment for their customers.

Also, they need to have official price list to offer to customers as there can of course last minute additional arrangements to be done. Or they need to display it on their website for customers.

  10. I Got Played.

I don't know why I didn't read the reviews for this moving company before I made a down payment.. hopefully you all are smarter than me and DON'T GIVE THESE SLIMY PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS!! The actual movers I had were lovely guys, but the office is straight scum. First of all, I spent the whole day before stressed about whether they were even coming because I never received a call informing me of the time they were going to arrive. I had a limited timeframe because I had to book the elevator at my new place. Made multiple calls, no answer. Secondly, you should pretty much guarantee that the "quote" they provide you with is going to be a FRACTION (hopefully half) of what you actually have to pay them with the extra charges that they add on. I had an hourly rate applied, and the "hours" that they came up with was a straight up joke. When I tried to call to ask about it, the people on the phones were some of the biggest scumbags. I consider myself a reasonable person, and I was hung up on twice. NEVER EVER EVER USE THEM! Those moving guys deserve a better boss!

  11. No show.

My family had a very stressful move that started with the movers now showing up. It started with no confirmation call the day before. I had to call to find out the move time. But the next day the movers didn't show up. I got a call on the day AFTER. No apologies no compassion. The agent just said they have a truck for me and if I want to take it or not. At that point I already had a Uhaul. I am still waiting to get back my deposit. It's been a week since they promised only 3 times. Provincial Movers. Never Again!

  12. Excellent!

Moving from Newmarket, Ont. to Port Coquitlam, B.C.
We weighed our boxes, numbered all of the boxes and ran a black marker across the tape.
We contacted the company, they were pleasant and showed up on time. They called us with the cost and weight which was 100% accurate. We were told that our belongings would be put into storage for 6 weeks and they arrived in B.C one week after the 6 weeks of storage.
We had a lot of breakables and not ONE item was broken and all the boxes were counted for. The gentlemen who showed up were polite and more than happy to put the boxes wherever we wanted. In total we had 86 very large boxes.
We were very happy with Provincial Movers Mississauga, Ont .
I've moved all over Canada and this is the first company to have not broken anything.

  13. Provincial/Nexus/Action demagement.

Running different names under same phone #. Their corporate registry is on the side of a highway(no exit). moved from NS to AB every box crushed, damage to furniture, nothing wrapped tried to change the weigh tickets. Rude, threatening, lying B@#&$rds. I would sooner lie with a flea bitten hound than move with this bunch. Oh and did I tell you it took nearly 8 weeks to get our stuff. biggest issue is, I can't give a zero stars to counter the obvious shills.

  14. Great job.

The young men that arrived to help us with our move were fantastic. They worked extremely hard and deserve every penny they are paid. They even went over and above. At the end of the day on a Friday when they were extremely tired they re-positioned the television for us. They were extremely courteous and very pleasant people. What a fantastic team.

  15. Such strong guys.

2 young men showed up on time, very pleasant and friendly.  I lived on the third floor with no elevator and had some really heavy furniture. These guys worked constantly without taking a break. Both were extremely pleasant and friendly.  Neither of them ever complained! I would highly recommend this company!  Great communication as well.
