  1. Small move

Excellent service from beginning to end. Would recommend this company to anyone that I know . I moved from Maryland to California. Made many calls to change the size and date of my moves several times. Not once did I face any ire from any of the people answering my phone calls. From pick up to delivery the service was impeccable! Kudos for the super service!

  2. Lost boxes, damaged TV screen

I paid roughly $5k for a shipment of 32 boxes in addition to a 65" TV. Upon waiting nearly 6 weeks for the items, I noticed three boxes missing and my TV had a cracked screen. As of this writing, there is no finding of the missing boxes (one of which contained an expensive Apple computer). Estimated losses: over $6k (exceeds the shipment price by $1k)

I would not recommend this company to anyone. Don't use them under any conditions as they are completely incompetent. I am asking for compensation for this horrible experience and can update this based on their handling of this debacle.

    Terrible company!

  3. Shipment took twice as long and boxes were quite damaged

Our experience with Shipsmart was appalling from start to finish. My young daughter was moving from NY to Seattle in June. From scheduling an appointment for packing/shipping to communications (or lack thereof) to get updates on delivery the whole process was challenging, to say the least. The local company handling the packing and shipping for Shipsmart was Xpress Relocations. They were scheduled to arrive between 9-11am on the day. Apparently, they were dialing an incorrect cell# all day en route to our house; there was no communication for a while until I called their main office. Then they were stuck in traffic. Ended up arriving at 6pm! Packing took a half hour and was efficient (the best part of this entire process). Fortunately, I took a picture of the truck outside the house as well as the packing slip (as there was no hard copy available!). For the next several weeks I made almost 2 calls a week to Shipsmart to get updates. There was always a delay of some sort. At one point they said they had no record of the pickup and had never picked up the shipment because my daughter had cancelled the appointment! I sent them the pics I had taken on the day of pickup as proof. Apparently, the warehouse manager read a number on the packing slip incorrectly. Then they said they were dealing with high demand and there was a delay and my daughter’s 11 boxes were in an area of the warehouse that was hard to get to so they had to move boxes “like tetris pieces” to locate her items which would take a few days. Further delays. The items were eventually delivered 7 weeks after pickup when they should have taken up to 4 weeks. And the icing on the cake was that most of the boxes were damaged in some way – dented or like there was an attempt to rip them open. One was completely shredded at the top. There were some damaged items (shoes, etc.) which are replaceable but none of this should have happened. I called and sent them a video of the damaged boxes on Aug 17. It has been 3 months and to this day neither my daughter nor I have heard back from them with an explanation about when and why this happened. If you want peace-of-mind I would recommend you try other moving companies.

  4. I hired Ship Smart...Bad Decision

I hired Shipsmart, their office out of Santa Fe Springs, CA, in August 2021, to handle a small move from CA to TX of about 25 items for a client of my small concierge company. What a horrible experience! The company is poor at communicating, difficult to reach, inaccurate at estimating costs (the final shipping cost was more than double what they estimated), and very poor at prompt performance timelines. Service through them drags on and on. They also told MY client, the customer I referred to them, inaccuracies and outright misrepresentations about information communicated to me and then back to the customer...Making me look bad in my client's eyes. Tread lightly with this group. In my experience, they are disorganized, inefficient and practice poor business ethics. Thanks Shipsmart, you really screwed me over.

  5. Slow and overcharged

They said it was just an ‘estimate’ and that’s why they increased the price of moving one sofa from $1500 to $2000 dollars! They also said the sofa weighed 283 pounds. It does not unless they are charging for a container as well as the sofa. They took my daughter’s information and said they would contact her for payment as we arranged. Three weeks later the called from an unidentifiable number to tell me about the extra $500 charge. They were expensive to begin with but this is terrible. Will never use again. Save your money.

  6. 5 weeks later and then asked for $800 more

Got a quote for everything packed and after 5 weeks with no word of our items they call asking for $800 more than quoted.

  7. Slow, expensive, dishonest

$2000 over quote and over 5 weeks late for a small move. ShipSmart is not a moving company, it's just a middleman for shipping companies. So if you have a good move with them, you got lucky that they contracted a good mover. If you get unlucky, like I did, then not only is your move very delayed and misquoted, but also ShipSmart doesn't know what's going on with their contractors, and they put you in a horrible cycle of them saying "it will ship next week," next week passes, you call to see what happened, wait a cumulative 2 hours on hold, and get bullshitted again. It's hard to convey the amount of hold music I listened to because of ShipSmart, and I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy.

In the end they took so long that I flew back across the country to rescue my stuff from the warehouse with a UHaul. When I arrived I found the warehouse so full that pallets of people's belongings were spilling into the street. There were two guys(!!!) working there.

Save yourself and pick someone else.

  8. Ripoff

Doubled the price after they had our belongings. Use someone else can’t reply on these guys to do the right thing. Took about 2 months to get our belongings.

  9. Sometimes plans change...

Many thanks for accommodating my move from VA to CA that, unfortunately, was interrupted by COVID, fires, and then a change in plans. Throughout the 13 months my stuff was safely stored and all staff were respectful and professional. I will always reach out to ShipSmart for future smaller moving/shipment needs.

  10. Timing

They give a rosy estimate of 3-4 weeks but in reality they have no control over when it is shipped and keep giving estimates of "the next few days" until weeks have passed. Do not recommend.

  11. Horrible experience - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

The only reason I've given them two stars instead of one is because they refunded me for the amount I spent in an Airbnb because my stuff was well over 2 weeks late for the date promised. I called them daily for over a month down to the very day my items were to get dropped off because no one even confirmed the delivery the day of. Continuous long hold times and despite baby sitting the process the entire time, it took 1.5 months to receive my stuff from a STUDIO apartment. My computer chair and dishware also arrived broken. Additionally I was quoted 5000 and was told after they took everything that it would be 6300. The movers arrived late at the beginning of the move (3.5 hours) at at the destination (3 hours late) without any communication what so over from their side. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

  12. Excellent service. I highly recommend

I highly recommend Ship Smart. From the time I called to inquire about their service to the final delivery day, I was so happy with everyone I encountered by phone and in person. I moved from Berkeley Ca. to Brooklyn NY. I moved a new full size bed and 19 boxes. The 2 gentlemen that can for pick up were wonderful. They were so professional and respecful of my things. I felt confident I made the right choice. I was notified of the delivery date, was asked if that day would work for me. They called me that morning to confirm time of arrival. The 2 gentlemen from the New Jersey warehouse were just as wonderful as the pick up staff. My bed and frame came boxed so were well protected. They too were very professional and respectful of my things. I had contacted the office a couple of times to inform them of a few changes from the original estimate and everyone was so helpul and accomodating.

The total cost of the move was so reasonable. I had 2 large moving companies do an in home estimate for this size move and they both recommended

Ship Smart. I saved $6,000.00+ using Ship Smart. They are fantastic and I would definitely call them again as well as recommend to my family and friends.

    Thank you Ship Smart.

  13. Don't use them HORRIBLE Experience/ company

Expected delivery was a month ago, and they say it's probably going to be another week.

Everything is subcontracted out so they have no control over when your items actually get to you. Never their fault, nothing they can do.

  14. Overpriced and many broken items

Overweighed originally and "reweighed" at $700 less but still way over original estimate. More importantly they did a terrible job at pickup and palletizing our furniture causing bottom of pallet to break damaging many of our items. Broke leg and drawer of 250 year old antiqued desk along with other damaged items. They are only agents who hire local movers to pickup and deliver your good so beware of poor quality since there is no supervision or quality control in this system. Would never recommend this company because of cost and extensive damage.

  15. Don't Do it

Good: They picked up items within 1 week of delivery contract being finalized.

Bad: After you pay for your items to be shipped, they stop responding to you. Frustrated about where your items are and want to call them? You might get hung up on.

Hoping for an email back from Samantha or Robert who were constantly emailing you before payment? Not likely.

You will be given estimations that are unrealistic, just to get you off their back. I was told I should receive my items by today, Friday July 23rd. I haven't received a call about setting up delivery, so how is that possible?

No one has called me to set up delivery, I asked for the number to directly call the people handling the delivery in Texas. (They had it all along, yet no one offered the phone number to me)

Once I called they said they haven't even received anything from my job number.

Prepare to take many days off from work based on unrealistic estimations. And to possibly sleep on the floor.

Save yourselves the trouble and spend a little more money to book an actual moving company.
