  1. My second long distance move.

I was 100% satisfied with the move. The crew made it extremely comfortable and easy for me to do the cross country move. I actually moved with them 2 years ago from New York to Seattle and found it so positive I used them again for the reverse move.

If I ever need to move again, I will definitely use Vanguard Van Lines.

  2. Great long distance moving experience.

There are so many LA area movers to choose from, the stress factor doubles the usual anxiety of a move. But let me save you time and angst .
I got burned from a large moving company 3 years ago so we very nervous to say the least.
I guess I was naive about how common it is to get ripped off by these companies. I studied search this time. And I'm glad I did.

Vanguard Van Lines is a bit more expensive, but they pampered me every step of the way. I wanted movers who knew how to look after my belongings & a company who did what they said they would do, at the quoted price - all done - no sneaky hidden fees!!
On moving day, the movers were on time, professional, polite, accommodating and quick! When all was complete after a 6+ hour day, they re-assembled all of my furniture, bed, dining table & placed everything just like they said they would.

I rarely review places here, but the experience with Vanguard was worth the time.

  3. Good job from Vanguard.

Hands down the best service I received from calling multiple companies for quotes in shipping all my belongings from 2bd house. Ronald was very professional and patient with me. I felt like I was talking with family or a close friend. He really took the time to listen to all my questions and was able to give me the best quote out of all the companies I called, especially for the time frame that I needed it in. The most important thing was that Ronald was very responsive to all the times I called. Unlike other companies, which I had to call multiple times to get a response from, he answered all of my calls. I believe this is the most important factor when looking for a company to move, because it is so important to know what is going on at every stage of the process. Overall, I am extremely happy with the service that I received and would definitely recommend them to anyone doing a long-distance move.

  4. Both teams were great.

Everything was awesome!! The staff is courteous and takes the time to ensure you are happy. Moving squads, customer service and sales manager were great. All movers went above and beyond to get everything just as I wanted it. I will recommend this long distance movers to all my friends and family. You will enjoy working with them.

  5. It all went downhill.

It started out with a great quote and good customer service. The pickup team arrived on time and were done quickly. HOWEVER, delivery was another story. I had requested delivery on Friday or Saturday and found out they were loading my things in LA on Saturday, to be delivered on Monday night at 9PM. That was a no go with my apartment complex. So they said they would arrive at 8am on Tuesday. Showed up at 10:30am and argued with me about the steps. It was almost 45 minutes before they would take anything off the truck. Seems the pickup team took the money for the steps. Then the horror began. Broken glass in one of my china cabinets that they had wrapped, also deep scratches. Tape marks on a bookshelf that they did not wrap, as well as chipped wood on the bookshelf and the dresser. Wet boxes. And today I opened a storage chest with pillows, rugs and blankets, and it was wet and smelled like cat pee. Or rat pee. It was awful. I still haven't opened some things and am afraid what I might find yet. DON'T USE THESE MOVERS!!

  6. Best long distance move experience.

Moving can be so stressful but thanks to the guys at Vanguard this move was a breeze! I received excellent customer service from the very first phone call. They not only gave me a quote that was less than half that of another moving company, but they also finished the job in 2 days less time than they quoted! They literally saved me $1000!

Pick up team were the movers who actually moved my things and I couldn't be happier with them. I feel like I won the moving lottery or something! They were both very polite and professional. This is the first time I've hired movers who actually showed up on time! Not only did they handle my things with care (and lightening speed), but they were also patient with my 2 year old son who was so afraid that he would never see his toys again once they went on the truck.

I am one happy customer and I 100% recommend this company for your next out-of-state move!

  7. Do Not Use.

DO NOT USE VANGUARD. They are expensive and have horrible communication. DO NOT USE THEM. They will leave your stuff in a warehouse for weeks, never respond when you ask for updates and then ruin everything on delivery.

    CHOOSE SOMEONE ELSE.

  8. Scam Scam Scam do Not Use This Company.

I am writing to you to complain about Vanguard Van Lines. I got a quote from them in mid March and explained that I needed my items that I have in storage in Elk Grove, CA shipped to Forney, Texas. I got a quote from Karen Jacobson for $1,035.00 (first quote), but by the time I booked their service It had gone up to $1235.00. April 12, 2019 the movers came and looked at the storage and stated that it would cost 3 times the amount I was quoted. I had no choice at this time but to pay. Two movers loaded the truck up and stated I had 87 pieces that was loaded on the truck. While the movers were moving items their were several boxes that clearly had broken items that he loaded.

Four days later I called Vanguard Van Lines to get an update and got no response. When I finally talked to someone I was told my goods were sitting in a WAREHOUSE THE STRESS BEGINS!! I was never told my items were going to sit in a warehouse!! I called again and text practically every day as to when were my items going to be delivered. Each time I called, I could not get thru to anyone and only got voicemails.

Three weeks had passed and on April 25th, I called Karen H and she states my items will be loaded on truck on April 30, 2019. I did not get my items delivered to me until May 3, 2019! I requested to see my items before I pay and the driver and I went round and round as to payment. The driver stated if you don’t pay, your items will go to a storage. Karen texts me and says I need to pay the driver because he has other shipments! I did not budge and driver writes on invoice NOT PAID MONEY BEFORE GOING TO STORAGE. The driver unloads truck and I did not have 87 pieces I had 57 which was the original quote. Upon going thru my items I noticed the boxes that had broken glass were not delivered. I asked the driver and he states he does not know what happened to the items.

Two days later on May 5 2019, I had completed going thru the delivered items and noticed many of my items were either left in that warehouse or stolen! I called Karen and stated I have much missing and she stated she will check into it and call me back. She never called back, but instead sent me a claim form.

I want my items back!! This company shouldn’t be allowed to conduct business like this!! I paid $3,737.00 for a move that was quoted at $1,235.00,THEIR BUSINESS STINKS!! My items were sentimental to me and they have no right to take my things!!

  9. Don’t use Vanguard- ever!

I was recently married and chose to sell my house in Northern California, Novato / Marin County and move to the Houston area. I debated using a U-Haul and decided to go with a “professional moving company” what a bad decision that turned out to be.

I called Vanguard in Northridge CA, another bad decision and spoke to Karen who assured me that everything would be handled. I asked when someone would come out to do a walk-through, and was told that because I sent her pictures of my stuff, a walk-through wasn’t necessary and that I would need and require a 26 foot truck. I’ve never moved before, and I was packing up to 30 years of stuff. Stuff from my mom and dad, grandparents, great-grandparents, and great-great grandparents, plus my own stuff some valuable, some sentimental and some irreplaceable. I trusted that a 26 foot truck would do it. After all, they were a “professional moving company” they knew what they were doing right? WRONG.

We were set- the movers were set to arrive Between 7:30 and 8 AM. They were to pack up breakables, large furniture and wall art. They actually didn’t arrive until 7:30 pm that night. The driver had called me at 9:30am, two hours after they were to arrive to let me know he wasn’t even halfway to San Francisco from Los Angeles. How do you pack up a moving van at night?

My intention was to clean the house once they pulled out so the new owner would be happy. We were leaving for Texas the next morning. At 2 o’clock in the morning, the movers sent me a text message letting me know that they couldn’t get everything on the truck. I was told I should have ordered a larger truck. The size of the truck was assigned to me by Karen, she said 26 feet was enough. They left several expensive pieces of furniture and many packed cartons of unknown content in my garage at my old house. My realtor had to arrange to pick up all of these items to be stored at her house until other arrangements could be made. MY DIME!

I also had to call a cleaning service, Because I wasn’t able to clean up the house after they had left, there was no time. So again, MY DIME!

Two days later I received a call from the driver telling me that they were overweight in Arizona and had to unload 2000 pounds of my property into a storage locker in Arizona. The irony is that there is a weight scale one exit down from my former home. So now I have stuff left in two states and we are not even to Texas yet.

  10. My long distance move with family.

Vanguard Van Lines was the best service of this type that I've ever utilized. They were friendly from the initial setup and quote, the movers were professional, fast, and courteous. They focused on helping us with what we needed and when situations presented dilemmas, they quickly resolved them and made it happen. The quoted price was correct and they were fast. I would HIGHLY recommend. The main guy, Boris was perfect for the team with him is truly a class act!

  11. My move from LA to Portland.

This movers were great! They were very efficient and got right to work. They didn't waste any time getting started and were very upfront about pricing. They also made sure everything was right were I wanted it before they left. I was very indecisive about where things should go and they were extremely patient with me. I would definitely use vanguard van lines again but hopefully it won't be any time soon!

  12. Great moving experience!

Moving is never an easy process but Vanguard Van Lines does their best to make the move as easy on their customers as possible . Their pricing is very competitive to others around them and the whole move-out-move-in process was done very quickly ! I was impressed by how fast yet how careful they were with my goods. No hidden fees or extra hassle like I've experienced with other companies. I felt like they treated me more like family than a customer considering the care , the efficiency, and the wonderful conversations we had throughout the whole move. Best moving company around!

  13. Do Not Hire!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! THEY ARE IN THE BUSINESS OF STEALING YOUR MONEY!! Total expense ended up being 3x THREE TIMES the original estimate. When I called to get an estimate, I listed every single large item I owned. In addition to that, I told the representative that my items (couch, coffee table, etc, were larger than "normal", but they still SIGNIFICANTLY underestimated cubic feet.) On my part - I was unsure of the total number of boxes as I hadn't yet packed. I estimated 50 boxes - and ended up with closer to 100 boxes. If Adrian is your mover - WATCH OUT! He asks you to sign and pay half of your original ESTIMATE without warning you that your move will be 3x what was estimated. Read all the reviews first. I'm not the only one with the AWFUL experience. In addition - It was like pulling teeth to get anyone in customer service to call me back. Every time someone told me "oh they aren't in but we'll have someone call you back" I didn't receive a call back until I called and left an additional 2-3 messages.

  14. Long distance move experience.

I'm very thankful that this company made sure that I wasn't too stressed out about what I need to do. Thank you guys for honoring the quote that you gave me, and for obviously not overcharging me. I highly recommend this company because of the work that they did. They know ther business and they know how to make your long distance move better. And nothing was damaged on the transfer. Thank you guys once again.

  15. My moving experience.

I had a lot of stress when it came to this kind of move that I had to do. But this company was able to ease that. Good job guys, and I will definitely recommend you for any future moves that I may have. Which I believe will be in a few months anyway. Love the work that you do. Good luck with your place.
