  1. Did Not Refund my Deposit.

Hi all, I see a couple of complains about this company not refunding deposits. May I know if anyone has successfully got through to them as of late? Which contact number or email did you reach out for? My emails are blocked and my calls are not being picked up. Thank you, I appreciate any kind of help!

  2. Scam, They Avoid Refunds as Much as Possible Despite Refund Guarantee.

Do not ever use this company, they started avoiding my calls and putting me on hold for more than an hour each time when I try to ask for my refund. The contract states they will refund in full as long as it is 48 hours before the movers arrive. I've been calling months in advance and they have been deflecting my attempts. I finally got them to agree to refund 1 month in advance and they are taking forever to give me the confirmation email. If I don't get my refund I will be performing a charge back with my bank for fraud, filing complaint with BBB and FMCA. SADLY I didn't check this in advance but they already have 12 complaints this year 2020 on FMCA for FRAUD and an F rating on BBB. Funny how this company told me they were not on BBB because apparently it requires fees to be on the site. Well clearly they are listed on BBB with a F rating!

  3. Do NOT USE this company!. Be aware of they are extortion expert!

Moving for FL to TX and they ask me for a extra fee do covid 19, I don't received my goods after a month and they never answer the phone for give a explanation.

    DO NOT USE this company!!

  4. Head each and every warning!

THIS IS A SCAM - the company is a fraud. Colonial Moving is a broker. When directly asked they will claim they are not, they will tell you “Colonial will move” your belongings. This is what Eric told. But Eric is unethical and Eric works for a scamming, unethical company. DO NOT USE THEM.

Colonial underestimates and provides you with a short time frame for deliver of goods. However, when the movers Finally do actually show up (had us waiting all day), they tell you your belongings require more additional cubic square feet and charge you double - DOUBLE - of what you were originally quoted. They end up charging you more than any one of the reputable, more recognizable moving companies do. Then they proceed to tell you that the move with take double the amount of time you were told. All the while, you have no recourse with Colonial as they have handed you off and do not return calls. In fact, the movers have you sign an entirely new contract and the only thing they honor from Colonial is the “estimated cubic squ ft cost”.. which is already too high. I’m unsure how this company hasn’t already had legal action taken against it and/or how it can remain in operation. It is a legit scam, they commit fraud and the movers that actually move and transport the goods are extortionist. DO NOT BE ANOTHER VICTIM. Or fall for any of the rave 5 star reviews, my hunch is they are all fake reviews or perhaps referring to a company based out of the NE with a name close to Colonial Movers.

  5. Long Distance Move.

THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO HIRE TO MOVE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. AS SOON AS THEY GET YOUR MONEY THEY DON'T CARE. I contacted Colonial and spoke to Brook, ATFIRST she was very nice and answered all my questions and every time I called she picked up. They were at my house on the day they said with out a call. Then I come to find out that Colonial hired a S & M RELO LLC moving company and they tried to charge me an extra $800 because Colonial had under quoted me for less space. Because the movers showed up at my door they said my deposit was not refundable I had to leave furniture behind to keep my original quote. They took my furniture on June 5, 2020 and I was told to expect my stuff on June 8, I left to Texas on June 8 my stuff was not here. I waited 3 days to call to find out where my stuff was at and they told me my stuff was in a storage room waiting to get loaded into a truck and they would call me, a week and a half later I still did not received a phone call. Finally I started to call Colonial again and Brook was rejecting my calls sending me to voicemail and I called costumer service and they were not answering my calls either. I called over 10 times and every single time I got forwarded to voicemail or the answering machine. But when I called from my daughters phone they answered right away. I told them I was going to take legal action if my furniture was not here within the 21 days that they had legally to hold my stuff just to find out that they hired another moving company and my furniture was in a storage room in Ohio and I got my furniture June 22 all damaged and my boxes where damaged and open .

  6. Horrible experience with move from OH to CO.

In 4/2020, my husband, Dave, spoke to Steve Roth at Colonial. Dave was very specific that the items needed to be delivered on 6/1 as we would be flying out there to assist with the move. Steve told David the items would be picked up on one of three days (5/23, 5/24 or 5/25). Steve stated not to box up the TV but to take off the TV stand and that the movers would wrap it with blankets along with the mirror. We received a binding agreement on 4/08/20 listing the articles we would be moving. The moving company did not visit prior to the move like most companies do and verify the information. Instead, they took our deposit by credit card and Steve stated the next payment would be due when the driver picked up the merchandise. The 2nd payment at pickup could also be made by credit card. He did state the third payment would need to be cash or bank draft check at delivery. Dave asked if he could pay the driver the remainder when he came with a credit card since many banks weren’t open during COVID-19 and we didn't want to pay cash. Steve stated that would be ok. Our credit card did flag the transaction so we put on another card. This should have sent a red alert to us that something was not credible with the company and that they have experienced several credit card disputes.

Dave was told we would be notified 3 – 4 days prior to the move and 24 hrs before the driver would arrive. Dave made follow up calls to the moving company to verify everything was on schedule. He was told by customer service the information above. No one contacted us on the 23rd, 24th or the morning of the 25th to communicate the driver would be arriving. On the 25th David called the company and was told to expect the driver in a couple hours from the time he called. Ugh. Customer service stated they did contact us 24 hours prior. They didn’t but again we let it go ignoring the continuing red flags. Fortunately we had everything ready but just needed to move it all to the garage for easier loading for the movers. The driver called a few hours later and gave an hour window in the evening of which he did arrive during that timeframe. He also mentioned the TV and there would be an upcharge for wrapping the TV and mirror. Fortunately we found a box for the TV and for the mirror. We were irritated that Steve told my husband something different. By the way, we were never ever able to make contact with Steve again. All phone calls went to voicemail and he never called my husband or me back. I guess he got his commission and he was done after that. He needs more training in communication and ethics.

When the driver and other mover showed up, they were in a small truck labeled "Moving Pros" from Dickson City, PA. We weren’t told about a subcontractor. The driver immediately theme would be several hundred dollars more. First, our inventory had not changed (even the driver said it matched exactly to what he had printed out). The driver stated though that if it ended up to be less than the 450 c.f. he wanted to estimate for us, the balance at the end would be less. We could not trust this. After an hour of conflict and phone calls made we decided to take a few things out and put them in the car to be transported. The driver actually kept the items close to the original 300 c.f. quoted when he realized we weren’t falling for the company scam. He even encouraged us to take some items from the car and he placed them on top of the other items. With the mattress included, Mohammed did show us where the items went to 330 c.f. We paid the $118 difference, as we needed to move on. We could live with that. So, when it came time for payment, the driver stated he could only accept cash or bank draft. David explained to him what Steve had said so then that became a problem. Fortunately, Mohammed took a personal check and cashed it the next day. I will add that Mohammed and his helper did a great job packing in everything once the conflict was done.

Afterwards, Dave's # was flagged in the company system because he kept being placed in a long queue but when I tried my number while he was on hold, I was able to get through. We were given so much runaround as we tried to obtain a time frame to reserve the loading dock. I won’t go into each call to the company but needless to say, my son’s items did not arrive until 6/9. We didn't think our son would ever see his items again. Communication was horrible and at times non existent. We weren't even there for the delivery because it was so late after the expected arrival date.

We knew my son’s items wouldn’t be alone on the truck but Steve never explained that his items would be moved to another location and then added to a semi.

The day before delivery, the driver stated there would be an up charge because his semi would not fit in the lot. My son told him his complex receives deliveries from semis. The truck fit, the driver was rude but the helper was professional. Only one inexpensive item was broken.

  7. They are Scammers DO NOT USE.

I was quoted a price by Eric Marr, when the movers arrived, they were 3rd party movers (Bay Area Express Moving Company). My contract stated 110 items, yet the movers took less than half of our belongings. My husband and children are relocating from California to Texas. The movers moved 1,621 cu ft. The movers stated if we paid them an extra $2,000 they could move all of our belongings. We didn’t have it. So we now have made plans for my husband to fly back to California, pay for a uhaul truck and drive it back to Texas. During this time Eric Marr could not be reached. We had family calling from different numbers and NOTHING!! Tried calling customer service and they were of no help.. Even after listening to the call between Eric Marr and my husband, where Eric started we would have the WHOLE truck! I’m sitting here with a different 3rd party moving company. Our belongings were transferred to another truck, with different movers! The scheduled delivery date was Wednesday June 3rd. Customer service said they have 9 days total to deliver our belongings. No one told us any of this. The contract doesn’t state any of this. My kids have gone without clothing, their beds, our canned goods! I would go with Pods or a moving company rated by the BBB! These people are scammers and liars and don’t care who they screw over!! All they want is your money. During this pandemic when people are struggling. They should be ashamed of themselves and their company practices. I will be reporting them to the BBB and am considering legal action!

  8. Deceptive Sales from a Call Center.

I contacted company for a move from NY to FL. The initial pitch by James Coleman was made on 9/1/19. During this pitch, James advised that my move would be made in 3 days and quoted a price. He stressed that they have a "pipeline" from NY to FL and that this time was peak season for movers. So 3 days is all it would take. He also said the movers are only allowed to drive 800 miles a day so the 3 days seemed reasonable for a 1400+ mile move. The company James blatantly lied during his sales pitch. We discussed the move time on several occasions. I advised I was moving 1400 miles and needed to arrange to drive down to FL with a senior citizen (and dog) and take time of work for unpacking. He assured the 3 days is all it would take unless the truck broke down, or there were road conditions in the way. I was also NEVER told that my contents would be moved from the truck used during the pickup to an 18 wheeler and would need to wait for other deliveries to be made on the route. In addition, every piece of wood furniture was destroyed. The movers wrapped my contents so tight, the wood broke. They also stacked the boxes in the 18 wheeler so tight and high that over 20 boxes where crushed. The price quoted kept going up and up. The quote is mostly due to weight of items and I paid for all broken furniture to be moved. These movers had no care at all with my contents. In fact the delivery movers were so embarrassed and pissed at the condition of my contents. They even bought us dinner. Would never use this company again and recommend everyone to stay FAR AWAY!

  9. Add on costs.

They moved a small load for me in March, 2020. It was 45 boxes, two end tables and a bicycle. Because it was a small load, I told them that they should NOT bring a large truck and besides, it wouldn't fit in my driveway. I received a separate call from quality control. I told them the same thing. Don't sent a big truck: it's not needed and it won't fit. So, what did they send? A big truck and only after they got here did they give me the news that it would be $250 extra. I called to complain and was told that they couldn't guarantee truck size and too bad. Then, when it was delivered (after being transferred a few times probably), everything was higgledy-piggledy in the smaller truck that they brought but even then, because parking was limited in the area, they wanted to charge ANOTHER $250 extra. There were a few broken things but at this point, it's just not worth the hassle.

  10. Amazing Company.

My company decided to blessed me with an exceptional job opportunity if I would move from Nevada to California. The move was totally free on my behalf, due to the fact that my company decided to pay for the entire move. Even though my company was paying for the move, I wanted them to save as much money as possible.

Over the course of three days, I was contacted by a multitude of moving companies, all claiming to give me the best move possible.

Once I was contacted by Eric H from Colonial Moving and Storage, I knew I had the right company. Eric H was very knowledgeable about the moving experience I would have and he was completely honest with all of the questions I had asked. The best part about the move was receiving all of my precious belongings the exact way I had left them in Nevada; in one piece, no damages at all. Not to mention I saved my company a few hundred, if not a thousand dollars.

Thank you Colonial Moving and Storage. Thank you Eric H. If you want a knowledgeable Sales Associate, ask for Eric H. I promise you that you will not be disappointed in the least bit.

  11. Long move.

I had a great experience with Colonial Moving and will recommend to friends and family.

The sales associate was kind and professional. When they came to pick up my furniture the crew was respectful and careful. When they dropped off they placed my items where I asked and checked them to make sure there were no damages. I was very impressed.

  12. Extra Charges - Beware.

I told the initial intake person and their quality control person(ha!) that they could NOT bring a large truck up my driveway. Guess what? They brought a large truck and charged $250 extra. When I called about this, their response was basically "too bad".

  13. Heather and Wayland are criminals!

They charged us 16 thousand dollars for a quoted by multiple companies 5 - 7 thousand dollar move. They told us a 2 day delivery and would keep our stuff locked on the truck. After they started pulling away with our stuff we were notified it would take at least 15 days for delivery. Then they told us we had to wire them 100% of the funds or they were going to store our items. We were not willing to give them all of the funds until delivery so they held our items hostage and destroyed nearly 50% of our items throwing them against the walls at an unknown storage place. Many family heirlooms were destroyed and they went through our boxes and have stolen many items. We can't get a hold of anyone in the company or multiple companies they would have us forward information and wire the money to. From Denver to Tucson and almost no furniture. A lot of boxes to move.. and they crushed and kicked and damaged every item we've seen so far.

They had us wire transfer money to Nabout Family Co, Inc. 120 Park Ct. Roselle, IL 60127 Account#915926765 Routing#071000013 at 1084 S Roselle Rd, Schaumburg IL 60193 in order to release our items from being held Hostage in storage in direct violation of the contract and our wishes. Then it still took more than a week for them to even let us know of a delivery date.

  14. Colonial van lines,tarmac florida.

Five stars.the company reps, michele, paul and carol were in constant touch double checking everything.even called mid moving day.scott from a1 moving was meticulous and his crews were very hard working and eficient.showed up on time both days. And our final bill was 750.00$ lower than estimate.nothing broken scratched etc nothing missing.stress removal ,a easy move.

  15. Colonial Moving Company.

The moving company has put off my pick up twice. They should have picked up my belongings last week, then this week, and now they want to put it off until next week.  I extended my leave from work for one week already and now they want me to do it again?  I have spoken with 6 different people at the company, all of whom say they will pass my concerns/requests on to someone else via email and someone will get back to me.  Repeatedly nobody has called me back.  In addition, they have been informing me of additional charges (weeks later after making my reservation) I will have to pay for the amount of stairs thy have to take, number of feet from the truck, storage  when they can't get it done when promised, etc., etc., etc. I finally cancelled my order the eve of when my second promised pick up date as they want to put me off one more week. I will never deal with them again. You are in for a lot of frustration, anger, disappointment and needless energy, not to mention money, if you choose this company.  Buyer beware!
