  1. Bad Conduct.

    This is probably the worst company I have dealt with . They did not show up and on calling the person said that I booked for saturday and not friday. On sending him the mails stating the change of date and also pointing out the coi and payment links highlighting the correct date. The person on call continued to be extremely rude. Later he also called me to say that he will accommodate my move if I send a mail apologising for mistakes on his end. Very shady conduct. If the sales can't speak properly and plays blame rather than look for resolution, then I would stay away from giving them business and having to deal with then if anything more goes wrong. Many other better movers in the city which are definitely more efficient, professional and much better overall, especially in the way they speak and conduct business.e refused to let me speak with anyone else.     They immediately refunded the money. but its not about the cost, especially for working professionals who leave work to be available and many move on their last day.

  2. Do NOT use Dumbo!

    WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! We were paying by the hour and the movers deliberately took advantage and were extremely inefficient. They wasted so much time- it was so painful to watch. They didn't use a dolly and literally moved one box at a time down the hallway to the elevator. My husband and I did a ton of the moving ourselves just to keep things going- it was an exhausting day and what should have taken 3 hours (and it really could have!) ended up taking 7. What should have been a 3 hour drive to our new home took 1.5 hours because the truck driver didn't know that he couldn't go a certain route, then he realized too late that he couldn't fit under an overpass and had to backtrack. When we got there, the couch did not fit through the door initially and the two movers just stood around scratching their heads for too long (like 20 minutes, not even trying other options) until I directed them as to how to maneuver (not that complicated and I'm not the professional! The company sent me a link to pay the additional fee and the movers wouldn't open the truck at our new place until I had paid it- I felt very pressured into paying it. Then I got another link to pay an additional $100, which I didn't pay immediately. When I called two days later to contest this, Alex, the person I spoke to, was extremely difficult about it and told me to take it up with my bank.

  3. The most unprofessional customer service.

    The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I will not wish this experience on my worst enemy. Everything started well. The movers showed up on time and took 15 boxes from my apartment including other items. My partner and I saw them label 15 boxes as they were taking the boxes downstairs. I even signed a contract showing exactly 15 boxes were taken from my apartment. Upon delivery, I only received 14 back. I sent an email to their claims manager. Not only was he curt, he actually refused to acknowledge that the contract stated 15 boxes. He said the movers made a mistake to write 15 boxes there, when they only took 14 boxes to the camera of the truck and blamed me for the inconsistency and their mover’s mistake. They then asked me to make a police report to claim what is lost. Please avoid. The disrespect is not worth it.

    The box was properly labeled books. I had packed 15 boxes in total. 14 boxes were delivered.

    I also said this to the delivery guys when I gave them gratuity. There was one more box in the truck when they came. They said it wasn't mine, so I didn't press forward. So it is possible that the initial movers communicated 14 boxes like he said instead of 15.

  4. Do Not Use This Service!!

    If 0 stars was an option, I would have made that choice. It all started with Dave the salesman was very rude and pushy. Bear in mind that you have to pay for all of your services IN FULL before the day they show up. I was uncomfortable but they're like the Russian mob and they strong armed me. I told Dave that I needed items moved from one storage unit to another(in the same building) and he charged me extra for it but the guys picked up the stuff on my list and took off. I explained to Dave that I am pregnant and I cannot life anything heavy and I was shocked to see that the guys pulled all my things out of the storage unit(couches, entertainment centers, etc) and left me with all that stuff to move on my own. I got "lucky" and found someone else that I could pay to move my things into the storage unit. They are the WORST company to use. The 3 guys showed up and two of the younger guys spent most of their time on the phones(on social media..) They were supposed to set up my bed at the new location-of course you know they didn't. I had to get neighbors to set up my bed for me(remember, I can't lift anything heavy smh) Cheaper is not always better. I'd rather pay a few dollars more for less stress than deal with them again. My mistake was that I checked the reviews after I made my deposit. Dave pressured me to make the deposit right away as the quote was getting ready to expire(so he says..) if you read this review before they attempt to pay to have it removed.. RUN!! I promise you, they are nothing but deceitful people. And they weren't willing to refund the money for moving my items from one unit to the other. They are low down dirty crooks. Walk right on by them..

  5. Rude bullying customer service, confusion, lost item, damaged items.

    Confusion, lost suitcase, damaged boxes, and rude customer service agents.

    My boyfriend and I had some stuff in storage that we wanted to get delivered to our apartment. We agreed on a list of items that would be brought to us and the rest would be destroyed. On delivery day, the movers insist that the stuff to be disposed of was to be delivered. Lots of confusion ensued. I insisted that these items were to be disposed of. They showed me a list they had for delivery that included these items. They told me they had to take the items back. There was also a suitcase missing.
    They wanted me to sign the document that they had. I refused to do so since it said that the items that we had asked to be disposed of were to be delivered and we still had one missing item.
    I called the customer service where I was transferred three times and had a man yell at me about not signing. When I brought up the confusion, he dismissed it saying the delivery guy was confused, but that I had to sign the document. He continued to yell at me. Insufferable people, disorganized, lost content, damaged content (broken glass), etc. DO NOT USE THEM.

  6. Ruined My Posessions.

    DO NOT hire these guys! I never write reviews, but this was such a horrible experience that I feel compelled to.

    I moved from Portland, Oregon to NYC, and they ruined thousands of dollars worth of furniture from West Elm along with my road bike and clothing. The service rep handling my move was unavailable via phone and email on the day of my move, and the mover who picked up my stuff gave me only an hour's notice prior to showing up with the truck; when I say that, I mean that he literally didn't tell me the date of the move until 1 hour before.

    I cannot tell you how upsetting it was to move cross country only to have my possessions ruined. I tried to file a claim, and after wasting even more of my time – sending photos, detailing damages, corresponding via email – they told me that I didn't purchase "additional insurance" and would only cover $0.60/lb for a total of 270 lbs. I was stunned, because at no point did their sales rep multiple tiers of insurance.

    Frankly, this company is horrible. The guys running it do not care about their customers, and they in no way will do anything to help you when something goes wrong. Seriously, DO NOT hire these guys. This was an absolute nightmare.

    Deplorable from the beginning

    DAY OF THE MOVE
    they were my worst NIGHTMARE imaginable
    From the time they arrived they greeted me with a complaint, " is this all your things they asked", yes, "well you have too much stuff we can't move it the lorry is already half full. Interesting as I am paying you to move my things with a full lorry not a half full lorry. I have also given a list of my things to the offices so why didn't they know what I had a full 3 bedroom and well listed.

    FAST FORWARD:
    They did not want to take my fridge because they said it can't fit through the door, well its a new chrome fridge, how did I get it in the flat when I purchased it, the guy and I have this on video says to me "next time you want people to move your fridge, hire professionals, I will be posting this on my page as I can't seem to upload it to theres. Walking down the steps he calls me a "blank", again, have it on video and will be posting it on Facebook page. Reckon they will be changing their name again to something else.

    ON MY FIRST VISIT
    to get some things they tell me they have to charge me $100.00 per visit, this is crazy. My boxes were in 7 different places free standing. Boxes upside down, crushed and dripping, boxes ripped and things falling out, clearly stating to be "place this side up". Some items loosely on their own placed against a wall. I am told I am being charged $450.00 because I am renting a larger unit. Unit was no where to be found, unless of course concrete is now the new "unit", my things instead were thrown all over the place and I have taken pictures and will be posting it on my page. This warrants a full heart felt laugh!
    they crossed state lines with my goods without telling me so my first visit is when I would learn my things are in jersey and not brooklyn, if you do not drive, this is a challenge as they are not close to public transportation and you would have to take an uber to get to them.

    DAY OF DEPARTURE
    2 statues missing, one completely destroyed and will post on my page, my 2 Fendi coats missing, EVERY SINGLE DISH is crushed to rubbles, in my clothing boxes there were their drink bottle they threw in there that they were drinking the day of the move, I took pictures and will be posting on my face book page and videos of them cursing at me to do their job.

    MOVING OUT FEE IS PRICE OF YOUR MONTHLY FEE
    To move out, now this was a joke I thought, I took my things out on October 30 to avoid a charge for November 2017, would you believe he tells me I have to give him my credit card to charge me the monthly fee of $460.00 I told him he can't charge me to take my things out,1. because I am not using them to move out, 2. that would be charging an extra monthly fee and I am moving out and he told me that's the policy so know you will be charged a months fee to take your things out and a fee each time you need to go to your storage to get something. you can take things out but you can not put anything in. And they only allow you a certain time to be there, so if it takes a couple of hours they are rushing you out of there,ALSO I MIGHT ADD, they wanted their garment boxes back, I thought I paid for that so how could they want them back, Sea & Air told them that was unprofessional and moving companies can't reuse garment boxes. Nothing was protected, everything was taped on, my wooden table, my furniture was not protected first by bubble wrap, they taped right unto my furniture. As for my fridge, when Sea & Air took the sellotape off of it, the entire shelf shattered to pieces, I was numb, I couldn't even get cross, I was just in disbelief and the manager Vlad Plokhyx known as Will just shrugged and laugh, oh and also he told me not to come back after the lunch break because I told him he was unprofessional, my friend that accompanied me, told them they cannot prohibit me from being on the premise as they took my cheque to move out, and it is not an offence to express ones displeasure. They really are gangsta, you have to laugh. Thugs I am confident everyone has had this experience with them except their fake people or their friends they get to write good testimonials. DUMBO IS GANGSTA, UNPROFESSIONAL, DECEITFUL, LIARS, UNETHICAL THEIFS, DEPLORABLE

    Ask your self one question why on earth would someone want to just complain on a moving company. I will tell you this, I decided to go to Sea & Air to move out, another reason it made no sense to charge me a fee to move out as it was a self move out. You will have the best experience ever, they are professional and pack your stuff with bubble wrap to protect your goods.

  8. Awful!

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! they are extortionists. They held my belongings hostage until I paid an extra large amount of money the day of the move or else they were going to leave all my belongings right there on the side of the road. Obviously I paid it, and when I looked through all of my things, about 25% of the breakable items, were broken. This company is full of crooks. If you end up using them, and risking it, make sure all correspondence is in writing because they are criminals.

  9. Rude office staff, slow & inefficient, save your money and peace.

    I've moved several times in my life.. and this was by far the worst. It was wrong from start to finish. The movers went to the wrong address to Brooklyn instead of Manhattan because the moving company gave them the wrong address! Unheard of. And when I called them out on it - he had the nerve to tell me - "may be I gave the wrong address, may be you did". Really? I hadn't even talked to the movers until they texted me.

    And when they said flat rate, does not depend on the hours, I should have checked more. They were terribly slow and inefficient than other movers I've seen. Usually movers come with a lot of appropriate equipments to get the job done quickly - here they had regular screwdriver, not even an electronic screwdriver. They took almost 4 hours to just move out stuff from a 1 person 1 bedroom manhattan apartment. I have reasonable amount of stuff, definitely not a lot.

    The mover started complaining about the bed having a headboard, sideboard, baseboard! and then about having stated 20 boxes and having 22 boxes! and I ended up paying more to just not have to deal with their constant complaining. Moving is hard and stressful - especially when doing it alone. The least they can do is not make it worse.

    I couldn't move on the scheduled day because they were late and had to pay for another 2 days of overnight storage. And every time you've to deal with the moving company - it's a nightmare the way they talk / handle things. Ivan / Hugo could take lessons in customer service & how to talk to customers.

    The only good thing in the entire experience and the 1 star is for one boy who constantly was trying to make sure everything was smooth and easy and went above and beyond to make sure I didn't have to lift a finger.

  10. Terrible Customer Service.

    * PLEASE READ THIS AND OTHER REVIEWS ON HOW HORRIBLY THEY HAVE BEEN SCAMMED* $50 bucks is not worth it to not post on Yelp. I'm usually not one to rate companies, but Lord do these guys deserve it.This is the worst company I have ever worked with. Period. If anyone thinks I am joking feel free to reach out directly and see firsthand how they treat their customers when they file for claims. I paid around $1K total for a move to a storage facility and then to my new apartment, and somehow these guys lost the back legs of my bed in the process. The moving crew had already asked for a 20% tip before they even began to set up a bed that is now unusable. When I explained my situation and filed for a claim, I was sent the same generic response three times in a row. They only offered to pay $50 for damages - if you look at other complaints this is what they offer for any type of damage- even though I have explained repeatedly that I just want to be able to sleep in my own bed and I just want help finding my spare pieces or a reimbursement for damages (by the way if you take them up on the offer, you are not allowed to take it to social media, so that explains their inflated score). I genuinely would not recommend this moving company to my worst enemy.

  11. Stay Away!!

    After several attempts to contact someone at Dumbo Moving and Storage on 5/25/17, I agreed to a move date of 5/31/17 for a total of $775. I made arrangements to have coverage at work and was ready to rock and roll. I paid the deposit of $50 on 5/26/17 and the balance of $725 on 5/29/17. On 5/30/17, when I reported to work, I was informed my partner's father had passed and he is going to be out of the office for an extended period of time. I called Martin at Dumbo Moving right away to reschedule the move. Martin told me, "we are overbooked, so let me check.." I figured since they were overbooked, me rescheduling shouldn't be an issue. Martin informed me there is a cancellation fee of $450. I informed him that I was not able to afford that. I also informed him that I was not cancelling, but rescheduling. I even suggested he look on the calendar and provide me with a date that they don't have any clients and I'll take that date. He refused! Martin was argumentative, rude, disrespectful, loud, lacked empathy and very unprofessional. He wouldn't allow me to speak, complete a thought and yelled at me the entire time. I requested to speak with a supervisor, he informed me that he was the supervisor. I then requested to speak with the manager, he informed me he was the manager also. I decided I no longer wanted to speak with him and ended the conversation. Shortly after I got off the phone, I received an email from Martin with an invoice for a total of $1225. I was outraged!

    Do yourself a favor and do not use this company. They are TERRIBLE!!

  12. Excellent experience with Dumbo Moving!

    I used Dumbo Moving for my recent move from Manhattan to Brooklyn and they were clearly more efficient, honest and professional than what I expected. When I first read all the reviews from different moving companies, I was not sure which ont to choose. Dumbo was used by a friend 3 months ago and that was the best decision to go with them.
    The booking process is fast, everything is explained online based on the number of items you have which makes it less expensive than the usual 4 hours/3 men I got from every other company (around 600 to 800$ for every quote I got based on time and miles), Dumbo was at 395$ for a one bedroom move with no kitchen appliances. No charge added at the end. I added a few items the day before (3 boxes on 10 initially), but I was transparent and let them before and that was all fine for them. They showed on time, did the move in only 1.5 hour instead of 4 hours. I also changed my reservation 4 days before to store my belongings for 4 days before I could get the keys of the next apartment, the salesman told me the storage is free for 2 weeks so no problem! no additionnal charge for the storage. We agreed on a second date and I have to add 300$ for the second move which is normal for me since I sued their services twice. The process is really smooth online with a prepayment and the remaining balance before the day of the move. These guys are really prepared and will take care of everything. They also send to you a detailed list of what is eligible for additionnal cost when you book the reservation (if you need to buy blankets etc.) which makes their pricing model known upfront with no surprise for the customer.
    Highly recommend to choose this company!

  13. Very unprofessional when they lost items.

    I highly recommend against anyone using Dumbo. While their staff seemed nice and the process was fine to get the move arranged - as soon as there is any problem they will screw you over. In the process of my move the movers disassembled a number of my items of furniture because they were going into storage for a short time,. But when they completed the move, they had managed to lose the pieces for reassembling my bed. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, mistakes happen, and asked them to simply get replacement pieces and finish the job later in the week. Despite several promises to turn up, the staff never showed, and then stopped responding to. The headquarters staff didn't care about the problem and offered me a meager $50 for my bed which is still in pieces in my bedroom and cannot be reassembled. They failed to communicate or respond to my emails and return phone calls, and all in all I can say it was not worth the risk to give these cowboy movers any money or trust them with your moving job.

  14. Inappropriate pictures on their trucks.

    I was following behind one of their box trucks today with my two young daughters (5 and 7) in the car. The truck had the most sexually explicit, inappropriate, R rated picture on the back of the truck with the caption, "always use protection." I don't appreciate having to field a lot of questions from my daughters in reference to the GIANT picture on the back of the truck!

  15. Strongman.

    I called Dumbo Movers Brooklyn. I Had used them before. They make it easy to move. Dumbo sent Strongman- --he knows how to get your furniture out quickly and into your new place like magic. Mattress wrapped to keep it clean. Furniture wrapped too. Will provide hanging garment boxes to move clothes. Nothing was broken ..or chipped. Great MOVER. Strongman!! I will use this service again. polite, prompt, clean!
