  1. Bad costumer service.

    Everything was going well until I was surprised with a fee of over $200 the same day of delivery after already spending $1100 cause the truck was too big to fit in our parking and they would have to rent a smaller truck to deliver our items. The general manager had the nerve to reject our calls and text us to solve any issues via text. Really bad costumer a service.. I rented a u-haul and moved everything myself. Never will do business with them again.

  2. A Stress Free Move.

    This company is very reliable,reasonably priced,and efficient.It was a no stress move,thanks to Tony and Benny!!And Nick made sure everything went according to schedule.They showed up early and  knew exactly what to move first.They came prepared to wrap the furniture and were very careful with delicate items.I would highly recommend this company and hope to use them for my next move!!

  3. Damaged furniture by dumbo moving.

    This company is exactly the opposite of what it claims. they are highly UNPROFESSIONAL group who claim that they will send "the best people we have " to do the move ! In fact, the reality was opposite when they moved my home. they broke my furniture and initially agreed to send me a compensation cheque. I had taken full insurance and they will not clearly provide me with the insurance details. they put a "stop payment" on the cheque they sent out to me causing my bank to charge me a $15 fee for the cheque. the people that are responsible to deal with the payments specifically the manager, Anthony is very rude and he has hung up the phone when I asked him about the damages. he bluntly told me " we cancelled the cheque as we determined we did not break your furniture". When I asked him, do you see the pictures I took with your men standing beside the damaged furniture he hung up. I have lost $ 3000 due to this move and I am filing back a complaint with the credit card, FMCSA and also will file a court case against these self claimed  "highly professional  company" !

  4. Never Use Dumbo Movers and Storage.

    I hired Dumbo to move me from NYC to Philadelphia June 2014 early summer ($915.00). The apartment I moved into had one full set of stairs to my apt. The movers started complaining right away about the heat and the stairs. Before even trying to move my things in to the apt- they said my 84 inch Macys' Remo couch ($778.00) would not fit up the stairs nor would it fit through the door. I even signed a waiver (per Dumbo's management) and an $75.00 additional charge if  they would attempt to move the couch up the back yard stairs up to my deck through my bedroom. The movers refused to try. Ultimately, they left my couch in the basement of the apt building filled with garbage and mice. And after they left my couch in the basement the movers ask me for gratuity ($100.00). Spoke with Dan (manager) and their claims dept. , regarding insurance claim options the next day. Claims dpt gave me the run around about submitting a claim. I am now fighting with Dumbo, and Visa to get my money back for the move.Dumbo even had the nerve to submit a FRAUDULENTLY SIGNED FORM BY MYSELF to Visa stating I waived any claims and liability for the couch!! Do NOT use these people!!Kyra S.

    Dumbo Moving & Storage charged me over twice the estimate they had provided me, despite the fact that my inventory of items was 100% accurate.  Additionally, it took over 12 hours for them to move a 2 bdr, 1 bath apartment less than half a block.  They either sent too small of a crew or the crew deliberately moved too slowly.  Finally, they refused to package or move "too fragile" items such as bedside lamps (!?!?!?).  They were unprofessional, slow and dishonest.  I have contacted the company for a refund, but they have refused.   BUYER BEWARE!  I should have gone with a more reputable company given the price that I paid.

  6. Unprofessional Scammers.

    Our experience in our move to Hoboken was a disaster, 'shady', and our instructions were blatantly ignored which I could only explain by the fact that one of the movers spoke no English  (the other two movers did so I have no excuse for them). These are the highlights (and next time I am going back to Oz Moving - their movers seemed to know (were trained most likely) exactly what to do with each and every piece of furniture vs. Dumbo guys who seemed clueless. Unfortunately they were booked for July 31, 2013) First, when they arrived at our apt in Brooklyn, they smashed and scratched some of our walls - luckily we had paint on hand to do a quick fix as we would have been charged by our landlord for any dents/scratches on our wall. We then witnessed them moving our furniture without ANY precautions and ignoring our requests; all our mirrors were broken (unwrapped), our bikes smashed (both had to be brought into the bike shop) our dressers, nightstand and acrylic coffee table were dragged across the floor without even a blanket and even a modicum level of care and precaution was non-existent. The movers apologized by blaming the 'new guy' as it was his first day. When they were parking the truck in Hoboken on 8th and Willow, they ran over a PARKED car and the police were called. The movers stated to us, that they were 'nervous' about the cops showing up as the 'new guy was an illegal immigrant' that shouldn't be working. I think this situation exacerbated the lack of focus on our move.  Both my husband and I have moved several times using other outfits over the last several years and have never experienced such gross negligence, lack of precaution (and lack of using moving blankets!) and unprofessionalism. We wrote to Dumbo Moving Company on August 4th describing our experience (after we wrote them we found MORE items they had destroyed as we continued unpacking) and requested a full refund  (~$800) which wouldn't even begin to cover the cost of the items destroyed (in the thousands at this point). Their response? An offer of $160 dollars for the 60cents per lbs general insurance they carry and the following response: "Since yesterday, I have received special instructions from the General Manager to specifically address your use of such terms as "shady business practices" and "illegal immigrant" in your earlier communication. Please be advised that the above mentioned accusations are false. Dumbo Moving and Storage respects your right to share your feedback on any of the platforms specified in your email. However, we reserve the right to hold you legally liable for any and all false claims and defaming comments towards Dumbo Moving and Storage and its agents. " ??WHAT??  I responded: "Please communicate to the General Manager that said 'false claims' came straight from the mouth of one of your employees when they were concerned/nervous about the police showing up to investigate the moving truck running over a parked car with the presence of an 'illegal immigrant' working with them. His words. Not mine.  I would not jump to such a conclusion and frankly it made us incredible uncomfortable to be put in a potentially legally grey (i.e. "shady") position as you can imagine. Let's be clear; this situation was not racial or any other type of 'discrimination' on our end of your movers. We treated your movers kindly, brought them Gatorade and tipped them well."So my ultimate take-away is that this outfit does not provide professional service and uses 'insurance' as a free pass for not taking appropriate measures in moving furniture. BOOK AT YOUR OWN RISK. 80% of our furniture being damaged or totally destroyed is not a one-off-freak of the universe accident or bad luck..its a the inevitable outcome of a lack of understanding of how to provide professional moving services (All our furniture was dragged without a blanket including all our broken mirrors, dressers, glass console table, side tables, etc!!),  gross negligence and lack of focus (did I mention they drove over a parked car and were dealing with the cops right out our door?). Now we have spent HOURS trying to get just the cost of our move back with our credit card company - next step is legal remedy!FYI - others who have had similar experiences you can complain to the BBB easily using this link (https://www.bbb.org/cons…).

  7. Great Movers.

    My entire experience with Dumbo was excellent, from my initial contact with Max in the Sales Dept. to the time of delivery of our antique armoire. All paperwork was electronic which was great! They kept constant comunication via phone and text messages to confirm app't and delivery time. I even got a call from Ronnie to let me know the truck was stuck in traffic on the LIE but that they should arrive within the 1/2 hr. The delivery men were very professional and were in and out of the house in no time. I was a little nervous at first in that I had no references other than the reviews online but they had a good rating with the BBB so I took the chance and I'm glad I did. I feel Dumbo is a very professional company, with reasonable prices and would highly recommend them for small or large moves!

  8. Dishonest.

    Ended up charging way more than estimate and mover kept threatening to charge even more. They sent a truck that was too small and mover insisted we should only be allowed to use half the truck and that he was being generous allowing us full usage of the truck. Damaged a dining room table and struggled with hutch. Left pieces in the prior residence that could have fit out of sheer laziness. Didn't honor agreed on price and tacked on additional inexplicable charges.

  9. Dumbo Moving and storage.

    Don't use this company regardless of their low rate. You will pay plenty later with all of your possessions broken, scratched, damaged, dusty, dirty, bended, etc. The crew was simply rude and very slow. They contradicted everything that was promised by the administration at the time of signing the initial contract. They lied about packing and protecting furniture in the truck. A few blankets that they used to cover sofa an mattress left both covered with the black dust and dirt that didn't come off. They even manage to dent and bent a piece that is 5 inches diameter stainless steel. Seems impossible for an average man, perhaps they do it on purpose?  Overall experience deserves a negative star.

  10. Avoid for long distance moves.

    I moved from NY to TX and purchased over $300 of my own heavy duty moving blankets because my things were going to be in storage for some time. The saleperson and I discussed this point for a very long time because my furniture is not IKEA, it's good quality I received as wedding gifts the year before. I told everyone that went to pick up the furniture and let the warehouse know in Texas as well. This is all documented. When everything was delivered none of the furniture had blankets and pretty much everything was scratched. I am BEYOND disappointed.  Terrible service and now nobody is available to respond!!

  11. Do Not Use This Company.

    Do not use this company! It is a complete scam! They damaged my computer monitor which was valued at $250 and offered me $50 as compensation, with the excuse that they only insure by weight at 60 cents per pound. Worse than that, I never got the compensation and they told me three times it was refunded($50). These people are completely untrustworthy and told me I had to pay them a tip.

  12. Everything was Damaged - Useless Movers.

     DO NOT USE DUMBOI used Dumbo Movers for a short move from Manhattan to Jersey City in September 2011 with storage for one day in the middle of the pick-up and delivery. 1. Movers showed up 1 hour late2. One experienced guy, 2 semi-new and one who had never moved anything in his life3. Despite their policy for newbies not touching and packing a customer's items, the new guy packed my things and did a horrible job4. Took twice the time to pack because the new people didn't know what they were doing5. When my items were dropped off, almost every single furniture item was broken - bed headboard was smashed in 5 places, two dining table chairs legs were broken, remaining chairs and the table were badle scratched, broken china and so on.6. So so so unprofessional - their delivery crew, upon seeing all the damage, openly spoke about how the packing crew were low-quality and careless!! Their own people bad-mouthing each other7. Didn't help me one bit to file a claim and despite sending their claim company 25 photos of all the damage and very detailed letter about how things were handled, I got NOTHING in compensation because they were not liable and I didn't have insurance!!When you see so many 5 star reviews - please think about it for a second and recognize that they are fake! Do not use Dumbo ever..PLEASE.

  13. Dumbo is Terrible!!

    I hired Dumbo for a long distance move. Dumbo picked up my stuff and seemed to wrap everything up nicely. Then Dumbo insisted that I pay a 2% surcharge for using a Visa card or 4% for American Express. I complained but Dumbo refused to move my stuff if I didn't pay the surcharge and I was not in a position to argue. I later found out that this is against both Visa's and American Express' policies.

    But the trouble did not end there. When my stuff was delivered it was damaged. All of the furniture was banged up, scratched and nicked. The glass in my picture frames was broken. Dumbo failed to deliver some of my stuff and they sent me someone else's stuff!

    Dumbo then directed me to their "insurance" adjuster who informed me that it's not really insurance and he would pay pennies on the dollar. Overall, there was several thousands of dollars of damage and Dumbo offered me $120!

    Dumbo never did come and pick up the stuff that didn't belong to me and according to them it contained someone's wedding photos and sentimental jewelry. They actually expected me to send it to them at my expense and threatened to send the police to my home if I didn't!.

    Overall Dumbo is a very bad company. Moving is a stressful experience. Dumbo made it 10 time worse. Don't be fooled by their overly friendly salesman Danny.

    Be very afraid!

  14. This Company is an Scam.

    Please don't make the same mistake I made..This company is a scam..
    The first thing they do before they start to move your stuff is to ask you to sing a contract.. On that contract says that you are agree to pay the amount of the tip they want..If you refuse to do it .. They will load you stuff and on the way to the place you are moving to.. They stop the car and check and open your boxes and take stuff that.. They know you will need later on..And when you call the company's owner.."By the way, his name is guy" .. He just made fun of you.. And laugh at you.. And refuse to do or even say something to his employees.. Because he knows very well what is going on..Beside that.. They are not responsable for IKEA furniture..On top of all these, they do not speak English..So do no use this company..It stinks..I do not recommended..Be aware of dumbo mover's scam.

    Great Movers with good communication skills, and great moving prices. These men are very polite and very professional.
