  1. Moving Max, Inc.

I believe due to the unlawful way this company has conducted their business, that they are not allowed by law to continue in the Moving Business. I sued them through the NJ Attorney Generals Office and won. DO NOT EVEN think about doing any business with this company. I belive that they were suppose to be shut down.

  2. Scammers.

They are scammers, they quote like 250, then charge you 1200$ with all hidden charges. Nothing but a crew of cheap thugs and greedy people. Watch out, styay away from them. They also damaged the floors while moving out, causing us additional 300$. Thugs Moving Company, that's what they should be called. When we challenged them, they said they would not release our items & would take us to court, and sell all our items. They are big scammers, they laugh at you like it is some kind of evil plan they have got going to ruin people.

  3. Scam Artist.

I was quoted an estimate of $250 for a one room move.  The movers were 21/2 hours late, Additionally, the email I received for an estimate did not include travel time and documented the drop off points.  I was billed $620 for a move that took an hour and received no support or resoultion when speaking with their management.
Stay away from these scam artists at all costs!  My next stop is in small claims court!

  4. MAX MOVER - A SCAM company.

I got a call from moving max nj (Moving Max, Inc. 6-20 Plaza Road, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410 1-855-817-7900   License # 39PM00109402) when I stared looking out for moving quotes online.  They offered me an upfront quote of $75/hour over phone and email. It clearly stated that the hours starts to be counted once the movers arrive at the pickup location and ends at when they leave the delivery place. My repeated enquiry over phone confirmed that they offer a flat rate and they don’t charge anything extra like fuel charge, time incurred in tarvelling to the pickup point , and in returning from the delivery pointare not covered. Believing their words I booked this company. Upon arriving at my lpickup ocation after an hour delay, the first thing these scammers did is to show a bunch of paper and asked me to sign. But these scammers knowing fully well thatno one will seek  their service if you happen to read the real contract paper. So he   asked me to sign a document that states that “ IF YOU DON’T AGREE TO THE TERMS AND CONDITION, THEY WILL CHARGE YOU 250$ ALONG WITH FUEL EXPENSES AND 75$ A HOUR FROM THEIR OFFICE TO BACK”. This would roughly work out to be around 600$.  I strongly disagreed to sign this [EDIT] of  paper because I didn’t “EVEN KNOW WHAT IS CONTAINED IN THEIR TERMS AND CONDITION”.  But he convinced me saying that whatever ever rate that was offered in email and over phone is the same, there is no change in conditions. Believing his words and since I had no option as it was my last day of my lease in the apartment, I reluctantly signed it.  Upon signing, he showed me bundle of papers and asked me to sign them, which contains all the terms and conditions of the contract. He cleverly bypassed all the terms that are contradictory to what was agreed by highlighting only those terms which are same to one that they send you over email.  I quickly realized that they force you to cover all wooden and glass articles, no matter in what condition they are. They charge you for the duct tapes, covering material etc. I objected to some materials being covered, but they will not let you do that. I was not much worried because I anticipated that the guys are going to charge me another 100$ extra. The whole loading took 1 hrs and after one hour of travel the truck along with three movers (including the driver) arrived at the new location. I expected that the unloading would take 1 hrs maximum and the total hours adds up to (1 1 1 )hrs , appx 4 hrs . I expected 300$ and packing materials (duct tapes etc ) to cost about another 100 $ . But to my surprise they guy handed me a bill close to 1000$ and told me that “ HE WILL NOT UNLOAD THE ITEMS UNLESS I PAY HIM 980$” . I asked him the math behind his calculation, they comes their fraud to light   They charge you for climbing the stairs ( they knew beforehand  that I was on the second floor) (50 $ per person) They do charge labor charges extra  He told me that minimum you have to pay for 5 hrs They charge you for the hours they need to go back to their place from the drop of point. I hgot annoyed and called the cops, unfortunately, they were not in a position to help me because the guy showed the papers which I signed.  They are cleverly exploiting the loopholes in the law. They never accept cheque or card payment. They only accept cash.   I ended up paying 980$ , because he had all my belongings and held me for ransom. In short “This is a big scamming company. They tactically exploit the loopholes in the law. They trap customers by offering lucrative deals. Everything is hidden. They really hold you for ransom with all your belongings at their mercy. They are doing daylight robbery. They law should catch up with them.     “NEVER BELIVE THEIR WORDS” THEY ARE SCAMERS. RECENTLY A TV CHANNEL HAS EXPOSED THEM”.  http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?id=9414130 Whats shown on the sting operation is totally true, I was victimzed, in a similar fashion.

  5. Scam - do Not Hire.

Horrible experince with Moving Max, Inc.  We were quoted $75/hour from Lisa.  We explained in detail the circumstances of where we were going, how far, number of bedrooms, stairs, elevators, EVERYTHING.  The amount we ended up having to pay was 3x times the amount quoted.  They did not thoroughly explain the extra fees ($400 for moving up stairs!?).

DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE.  THEY WILL SCAM YOU TOO!

  6. Horrible crooks!

I've never seen such crooks! Lisa told us - after getting detailed information regarding the distance of travel, the amount of furniture and stairwells at each property - that it was 75 per hour. She told us that with 3 guys, the job should take only 4 hours. I found that hard to believe, but even if it took them twice that, the cost came to only 600 some odd dollars. She said, and I quote, that "everything was included." We get the contract in the morning-- there is nothing about extra fees, but some fine print (that no one explained to us) saying that stairwells and packaging could be added. Again, we already gave detailed information to Lisa, who said everything was included. When they get our stuff to our place, (after arriving an hour late and taking two hours to get here, as opposed to the one hour it took us to get here) they gave us a bill for 1100. They have a minimum 300 stair fee! A stair fee? That's a minimum of 300? And this wasn't on the contract? And packing fees out to wazoo? And e nasty "sister of the owner" says "it's too bad that you couldn't afford a better company." Yes, lady, it was. Never, ever will I be so naive. I wiSh I checked the reviews..there are over 50 reviews of this place-- all the same. Horrendous. I am emailing ever news investigator I can on them-- these guys are crooks. .

  7. Moving Max Criminals.

This company should be ashamed of themselves. From the owner to his wife who I delt with. She has no customer service skills and only throws sarcastic remarks at all the questions you have. They quote you one reasonable fee only to hold your items hostage and make you pay 3 times more. Absolute criminals. If anyone wants is bringing these rat [EDIT] to court count me in. Keg91@yahoo.com is my email address. I can't even get into details of all the garbage they made me go through topped off by making holes in my walls while delivering my items. SHAME!! DON'T USE THIS COMPANY EVER!! I could have moved all my stuff in a Uhaul for $50 at the most. 1 bed, 1 tv, 1 sofa and 8 totes total and the original quote was 275.00 all included is what they told me. That was pure BULLSHI#!

  8. Great people.

I moved with moving Max this weekend I had a 3 bedroom they protected all my furniture which was good so nothing would be broken they moved everything with in good timing I would recommend this company they did a good job with the move very well spoken people.

  9. Standard.

These guys were good, Friendly, professional, and easy to work with. I am giving them a 3-star rating even though they showed up a little late.

The movers were really professional. Worked extremely hard and never complained. No damages thus far.

  10. All!!

Beware this company!! They say $75 per hour for 3 men and a truck. They do not tell you charges for packing material, charges for stairs and charges for driving to your location. For a 5 hour job, they will assume 9 hours and then REFUSE TO UNLOAD the truck at your destination without payment. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!

  11. DO NOT USE!! Bait & Switch!!

The moving guys showed up over 2 hours late in an old Budget truck using tape as a belt.. At this point I became very suspicious.  I went online to read reviews on the company and realized that I had made a big mistake!
Once the truck was loaded & locked and we got to the storage facility one of the guys handed over the bill, almost $1900

The guy, Rob called a woman back at the office (I believe her name was Sara) we had to talk to her from his phone only via speaker phone.  She was absolutely nasty, Rob told us she was one of the owners.  She was so unprofessional and did not provide any understanding as to why we were quoted one price and then billed differently.  She referred us back to the email that did not mention any thing other than $75 an hour.  I have saved the email.

After we continued to argued Rob said he was going to get in trouble but he would drop the price to $1500.  When we continued to argue he told us that the truck was locked and he was going to take all the contents and we would have to pay $50 a day and a re-delivery fee of $250.

Lisa, the woman that took the reservation, quoted $75 an hour for 8 hours did not say anything about a 3 hour travel time to and from the house, she also didn't mention an extra charge for a second stop and larger items even though she was aware of both.  After this experience I spoke with another moving company and was told that any job over $500 the company is supposed to come out and give an estimate. There wasn't an estimate outside of the quote of 8 hours and $75 an hour and that was done via phone & email only.

I feel like this was a Bait & Switch because the original cost was supposed to be $600 and then after they came they started adding all these additional fees, most that were not communicated till the bill was handed over.  The company will only accept cash or money order, no personal checks or credit cards.  In the end $1200 cash was paid to have the truck opened and the items unloaded.

  12. Horrible Stay AWAY.

This is very much a bait and switch.  They quote you $75 an hour for 3 guys one truck.  They don't tell you the minimum time is 5 hours.  I only moved 2 blocks away or that they "must" wrap everything to the tune of $300 extra. Plus I had to pay milage from north jersey to my town in south jersey, never disclosed.  They told me there was milage fee, I said I'm only moving two blocks, they said then no big deal.  Never mentioned that I had to pay from their warehouse.  They charged for extra stops, when I was told that was also "no big deal, don't worry".  They charged for stairs at both places, when I also told them when getting the quote that there were stairs at both places.  My actual bill came in 3x more than the quote.  BEWARE!  These are scam artists. The guys that came are very nice, but the company is terrible.

  14. Moving Max Scammed me Out of $1500.00 & Damaged my Property!! Beware!

I have not only been scammed by Moving Max, but they've damaged my very expensive personal belongings.   THEY REFUSE TO ANSWER MY CALLS, RETURN MY EMAILS, OR RETURN THE MONEY THEY ROBBED FROM ME, NOR PAY FOR THE DAMAGES.     I initially requested a price quote, on a moving search agent and received an email with 3 moving companies. Moving Max was the first on the list and the first to call me on my cell phone. I spoke with Lisa (Manager) on 1/20/14 and she quoted me $75 for 3 men and a truck. I told her I had a one bedroom, but owned my own appliances; large side-by-side refrigerator, 2 gas range stoves, large LG washer and dryer (front loaders), full dining room table, 8 chairs, server, living room & bedroom furniture and already packed boxes. I asked her if there was additional charges for the appliances, she said no, we just charge you by the hour, not by the pieces (large or small) we move. She said she would give me the best discount price she could and said to get approval, she would have to put me on hold. After about two minutes, she came back on the line and said; "The final price is $70 for 3 men and a truck. It should be about 4 hours, which should equal to $280.00." I agreed to those terms and scheduled the moving date and time with her for Monday, 2/3/14 at 8am.    They scammed me out of $1500.00. They kept my furniture and personal belongings HOSTAGE, until I came up with $1500.00 in cash, no personal checks, no credit cards accepted at all. I was devestated and called the company immediately, while the mover Rob,  was there and spoke with another "manager" Amanda. I told her what was going on and asked to speak to Lisa, the manager who quoted me that price. She said she didn't go into work and I had no choice but to pay the $1500.00 in cash, or they would not deliver. After insisting, they finally got Lisa on a "conference call" and Lisa lied and said, she discussed all charges with me over the phone, which is untrue. At this point, I had no choice but to make some calls to family members and gather all of the money in cash. THEY HELD MY BELONGINGS HOSTAGE, IF I DIDN'T PAY THE $1500.00. The mover Rob, said he would meet me at my new home address in Avenel, NJ.    They charged me for 12 hours, that included travel time (no one told me about such charges) packing of items, without my consent.  oh my goodness, so much more.    I need help!! I want to sue them for everything they have, so they don't  do this ever again, to another consumer.    I am creating a tickler file and gathering all of my supporting documents, which include; videos, photos, emails, their charges (which they did not let me read and were rushing me to sign, before they can start the move) and call logs.   Their contact info:   Moving Max, Inc.   6-20 Plaza Road, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410   License # 39PM00109400     HOURLY RATE: $70 TRUCK:   1 MOVERS:    3 BEDROOMS: 1     Rob the mover, was driving a white, 24ft truck, with NJ license plate# XBDS48. (I have photos)   Someone please help me! .
