  1. Worst moving company, Unprofessional.

Moving max is ridiculous. This is the worst company I may have dealt with in US. They are LIARS,  please make sure nobody I say nobody uses this company for their moving.
I called them they gave me a quote of $70, for a move on Sunday, to move stuff from my 1 bed apt. to my new house. In  my case, we had made all the boxes and limited big items like sofa, dining table etc. As decided and made sure by me several times, with their staff Kerry and their manager also, the truck with 3 men were supposed to come at 10am. But instead of 10am they came 2 hours early at 8am, God knows why; they had send us a confirmation email too, of 10am. We were still preparing some boxes, we never expected this, but still we accomodated and told them to wait like 15 minutes, but they may have waited at the most 5 minutes and left without even informing us. Then we called their office, they politely told us that they shall be there at 10am. But no one showed up, we must have waited for them about 5 hours & may have called several times leaving messages, never to be picked up going in their answering m/c. At about 3:30pm the manager returned my call and told me that her guys were there and we were not ready, so the truck left.
This is totally insane, they told me that the guys shall be at my apt at 10 am, it's not our fault as the confirmed time was 10am not 8am, and after that no one turns up and lastly they try to put the blame on us. I cancelled the whole contract  right away. They jeopardized my whole day, time wasted, and now I have to find an another moving company and take off on a working day, as the moving on Sunday didn't happen.
I didn't loose money with such guys but I don't have paid leaves at my job, so I shall loose money taking a off on a working day.
This company and their management are totally unprofessional. It seems they may have got a better offer for the time slot they promised us and played this trick. They are liars, very very unreliable and not to their word. No respect for their customers and seemed like they may ditch the customer for their interests/profit.
Advise from me & my wife never use this moving company.
I READ OTHER REVIEWS HERE, AND FROM MY EXPERIENCE, SUCH COMPANY MUST CLOSE, SO NO ONE IS FOOLED & CHEATED.

  2. Liars -.

I received an estimate via email for $75/hour for 3 movers and a truck.  I read the warnings about this company.  I called the office to adress various concerns. I was told there will be no extra charges for stairs and I was not required to use the packaging.  I asked all the right questions.  I did not get it in writing.
The movers showed up.  They moved my stuff out. They drove to my new apartment.  I expected a $300-$400 cost.  They then told me it would be $1,088 to take my furniture off the truck.
Be warned. Do not use this company.  They are liars. If you do choose to use them, they will try and rush you to sign the contract.  DO NOT RUSH, read the contact in detail.  All the prior discussion with the company will not matter once you sign the contract and the contract will not say what you expect.
    1) 5 hour minimum - TOLD ME 3 HR. MIN
    2) Clock starts when they leave their warehouse and the clock ends when they return to their warehouse. TOLD ME THE CLOCK STARTS WHEN THEY SHOW UP AT MY HOUSE AND ENDS WHEN THEY FINISH UNLOADING.
    3) There was a $300 charge for stairs. Moving out there was one flight going down and moving in there was 1.5 flight going up.  TOLD ME NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR THE STAIRS.
I have no idea how $400 turned into $1,088.
I called the police, who could not help because it was a civil matter, not a criminial one.
I am taking them to small claims court.

  3. Moving Max Movers.

Moving Max is a TOTAL SCAM!! What seemed like a great deal was not. They tell you 75 dollars an hour which includes miles, gas, loading and unloading, reassembling and unassembling etc. When booking the appointment I was reassured once again that was the price. Also when the movers arrived to my home I called once again when they presented me with paperwork stating 5 hour minimum and once again I was reassured that that would not be the case. If the job is three hours then I would only pay 3 hours. The movers only had to move a washer, dryer, fridge, small table, and a few boxes. It was under three hours but when I arrived to my destination the price I was presented with almost had me fall on the floor. The total was 1246.00 dollars.. They tried to tell me 150 extra for travel time,300 long carry and 150 for poor elevator access , another 200 for stairs, and 83 dollars for supplies which included cheap dollar tape which probably was a total of 6 dollars, blankets that they reuse, and once bubble wrap . I was beside myself as I didn't have that kind of money.. After making several calls with the same person that reassured me the price she said that's the total and if I didn't pay they hand the items over to the state  which will pay them and then sue me.. While this is being resolved I will also have to pay 150 dollars for everyday they hold the stuff..Once again TOTAL SCAM!! I finally got them to lower it to 1000.00 , which was all my savings.. worst experience ever!! I hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else! I plan to go further with this so this doesn't continue to happen.

  4. Contact me for lawsuit - Im going after their license too!

The company quoted me $75 an hour, no extra costs over the phone. (I recently found out it is illegal to do so and they must do a visual estimate). When the movers arrived they rushed me through signing additional papers. Once they had all of my property in the truck they handed me a hand-written itemized bill for $1700!! I am one person with 3 rooms of furniture. They then demanded I give them cash or money order or my property would not be dropped off. They went as far as to hide the truck with my items until I coughed up the money. I was forced to go to the bank and I got a bank check for my own records. When I called the owners wife back to tell her I had the money the truck magically appeared. However, they wouldn't accept an official bank check. WHY?! Because not only are they frauding us they are frauding the IRS!! I was forced to go back to the bank and get them cash. They finally unloaded and never set up the furniture as promised. They also banged up my walls and doors and never sent a repairman as promised with the insurance. I am going after this company in every way possible. If you are interested in pursuing your case further email me. divine322@aol.com  .

  5. Cheats.

    Moving Max, Inc.
6-20 Plaza Road, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410
    License #39PM00109400

BIGGEST CHEATS. Never ever use their service. Тhey would give you a quote of $ 75/ hr and then add on for each and everything. For a move of small one bedroom apt with Jersey city they had given of approximation of around $300 max and finally charged $1500. They hold up all the goods till I paid it in cash. Biggest cheats and totally unprofessional bunch of idiots handling the office. NEVER EVER USE THE SERVICE! It's a warning for everyone who is planning to use a move service. Don't fall for their quote. It's all misleading and false.

  6. Not a mover but Criminal Robber Blackmailer.

Not a mover but Criminal Robber Blackmailer. Worst experience of my life.
Never Never Never go to this mover. He blackmailed me after loading all luggage.
Initial quote was $300 and after loading he quoted $1294. Was very rude to talk. Was throwing my important and expensive furniture. Had multiple stops on way and wasted lot of time.
Added extra charge of $350 just for elevator and staircase which was never discussed. When he is paid hourly why is this extra charge?
Charged me for 7 hours even though I used only for 3.5 hours. Also total amount was wrong. When asked to show my documents, he did not show. He charged me $913 extra. Cheater.

  7. Very Dishonest.

MY QUOTE WAS $225, WHICH I WAS TOLD IS A GUARANTEED RATE AND THE ACTUAL COST WAS $940.  THAT IS OVER A $700 DIFFERENCE.  You are expected to pay cash or certified check before your items are removed from the truck.  When I contacted the office to address this issue I was told the owner of the company was unreachable for the next SIX days and when I asked to speak to Carrie (the person who gave me the quote) I was told she was "unavailable".  The manager, Diane Wiess told me there was nothing she could do and if I did not like it I WAS WELCOME TO LEAVE MY BELONGINGS IN THEIR STORAGE FACILITY, WHERE I WOULD BE CHARGED A DAILY STORAGE FEE. IF YOU VALUE YOUR BELONGINGS, YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY, AND YOURSELF - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

  8. Moving Max.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY NO MATTER HOW DESPERATE YOU MAY BE.
Even the foreman "Frank" told me that I was "Blindsided".  I was given a quote of three hours at $75.00 per hour for three men and the truck.  My final bill was $1234.00 and I only moved out of a storage unit 10x15 and moved 15 miles away.  This company is not to be trusted.  I fell for this scam.  Do yourself a favor and stay far far away from Max Movers. .

  9. This is Ture! Never Use This Mover.

I would like to tell anyone who is able to read this review before deciding to engage this moving company: Please give your moving business to other ethical, efficient, and reasonable movers! I am a single lady with only one bedroom (only big chunks of furniture are a queen bed and a sofa section). Based on my friends and other resources of quotes, my moving should be reasonably ranged from $400 to $800. However, this moving company did the following tricks to rip me off for $1200 in total! You are right..$1200 and I moved only for like 40 miles from north Jersey to the south Jersey. The following are the list I made for this shady movers; everything is true. I know the movers may start to refute me; no matter what they say, they stand the better position to understand how shameful they are. 1) $75/hour? In the emails they sent out to customers, they claimed that $75/hour includes almost everything: gas, mileage, insurance, taxes they lied! After all, they definitely charged ridiculously for steps, state charge, and packing materials.2) Additional packing materials-Vague They make you sign off a price listing of their packing materials, but they DARE NOT tell you how many quantities of each they are going to use! They only tell you afterwards. They charge $4 for each blanket and $20 for each tape. Could you believe that? In the end, they simply told you (and they never counted physically in front of you) how many they use..even though they used only 10, they put 20 instead to rip off you more. Simply for a 2-pieces sofa section and a queen bed, they charged me for almost $300 for packing ( I packed all my other personal things..I can't believe what if I have them pack anything on top of one bed and a sofa section!)3) Extra Charge-Stairs and random weird charge could you believe they charged $150 for a second floor move and $200 for the third floor? Also, when I saw one line charge of $125 for a weird item called "EPA" (fricking..what it is? they DARE NOT give me the full name but just abbreviation!). the nasty guy told me it is a government charge for tax or fees which every moving company will charge.4) Threatening the customers to payThey refused to unload anything until you paid whatever they asked for IN CASH! Yes, they insisted cash or money order. They always expect every customer to carry like $1500 cash at hand every day (I doubt they are just robbers)   5) Minimum 5 hours (and plus travel time)They have never told you they charge 5 hours as minimum; and on top of that, they charge travel time. In my ridiculous bill, they put 5 hours plus 2 2-hour travel time. The moving started at 11am and completed before 3pm ( I spent one hour arguing with them)Could you see how ridiculous they were? They charged me for 7 hours but instead, this moving only took about 4 hours. They would threaten you to pay otherwise they will charge extra hours after that. I wish I could make these dudes stay until 6pm by calling a cop to investigate them and tell the whole world how unethical they are.You will be surprise by what they do and wonder how come such a company can exist in a civilized country. In this society, I believe most people are helpful, especially when they see weak and alone individual struggle with moving things. I have never ever seen such shameful people. After I read all the previous reviews, I can't agree more. I know I am not alone to have such experience with them. .

  10. The worst experience ever.

This company is absolute fraud. The quote over the phone from 'Diane' was 3 hours for $85 p/h for 3 men. The move was on 12 miles distance for 1 small bedroom for 1 person, all items already dissembled, no boxes or small items. 'Diane' sounded extremely nice and helpful. on my question 'if it will take less time, is time prorated?', the answer was 'absolutely'. She assured me that the time for the move starts when movers are at my place and ends when all the items are delivered to new place. She made me feel comfortable with going with them. I guess it's her 'specialty'. On a day of the move truck arrived hour and 15 mins later and the guy who named himself 'Sean' gave me the whole package of papers to sign, which I started to read. The so called contract right away says that the minimum time charged is 5 hours plus the time it takes for the truck to go their regional warehouse. I was so appalled by this and said right away that I am not signing this. After nice acting between 'Sean' (i am not sure it's his real name, after everything that happened) who started to play 'nice cop' role and 'Diane' who said 'oh, who told you that? the mover? don't worry, just sign it, we are not going to charge you for that'  and then the third person 'supervisor' ('bad cop') got involved, who strangely had the same voice as 'Diane'. Now after I refused to signed it, they backed out and crossed those two items, so I would sign. Later I realized that that was an actual plan, so you would get all worked up at the beginning and after they back out you sign it without reading the most important part about all other things that you would never even thought about. To make the long story short my final bill had $162.50 of packing material (they used half of it the most), but I would not argue with them about it. They charged me $300 for 4 hours, even though 2 hours were spent on arguing about the contract and bill, $200 for stairs in 1st place (12 steps), $200 EP (environmental protection) fee (they are very inventive) and $200 for stairs in second place (12 steps). Total $1273.78. 5 times of original quote.Nice.Bunch of crooks. "Sean' tried to act like he is just a driver, but he was an equal partner in this scheme as 'Diane'. Ended up paying $1000 just to get it over with and get my stuff from them. Never met such liers in my life. From now on - only binding contracts.'Superviser'/'Diane' said that they are in this business 5 years, but the company registered only at the end of September, 2013 and 'Sean' has Florida cell phone number. I bet they will move soon under different name and may be to different state, especially after these reviews. Too bad I found them too late.  .

  11. SCAM - Don't sign any contract with them.

SCAM!!   These guys lied over the phone and told me that they won't charge for elevators, 1 flight of stairs and travel time. The funny thing is that they lady told me that they don't need to charge for travel time as the office is 7 minutes away. They charged around $1300 more than what they estimated. The issue is not that there are hidden costs ( there are hidden costs too, lol) but they would lie over the phone to get the business and then would ask you to sign contract.   I read the reviews on the website but then, unfortuantely, called  them to ask about issues raised in the reviews. They told me that the reason for charging extra for 1 flight-stair is that people have piano and then they have to use ropes for it. But, It is plain lie. They would not unload the stuff unless the customer pays them extra money. I paid them 6 times more than the estimates. They would be, then, rude over the phone. Don't hire them, pelase. I don't want other people to pay 6 times more than they should. SCAM. Period.

  12. Good Experience.

Moving Max was contracted to move my 3 bedroom house from Long Branch to Somerset. Movers came on time would of preferred 4 movers but was guaranteed 3 was sufficient. To my surprise they were right, granted I helped here and there  but overall movers did a good job. My items were all delivered in good condition. I must express that the movers did go above and beyond when they had to bring in my pool table up spiral stair cases. For a moment I thought they wouldn't be able to but the forman Frank got in right in no problem. So because of that I give then a good rating. Price was also fair it was based on an hourly rate along with I believe fees for long distance and bulky items. Great job!

  13. Scam!

Horrible, rude, dishonest! Was quoted at $75/hr all included. Ended up charging us almost $900 and wouldn't release items off of truck until paid in full. Also said it was a 5 hr minimum when on the phone and email we were told no minimum! We had asked in advance about the moving charges (I.E stairs, etc) and the woman "Diane" on the phone said not to worry because we had an elevator. Well, we were charged $150 to use our own elevator! Called while our items were being held hostage and they were extremely rude and unprofessional. We even had our email exchanges proving what we were told. Didn't make a difference. They keep all phone numbers on file and will not pick up your call if you call to make a fuss. Also, we were told not to tip the movers because "We pay them a lot of money." makes me sick at how horribly dishonest these people are! Do not use!

  14. No Show And Avoided my Calls.

I wish there was a 0 star for these unprofessional jokes..they don't even deserve a one star.  Initially, you'll communicate with a professional sounding woman, named Carrie.  Sure, they'll make you feel secure and confident with the choice you made by providing you with information and everything you need within a short time.  They will even confirm your move the day before. And then you may get stood up like me. I can't believe I waited 2 hours for these clowns still hoping they will show up at the pickup location.  I contacted their office 30 minutes after the expected time of the movers.  The women told me the driver will contact me to let me know how far they are.  It had been another 20 minutes and I did not receive any word which is when I called again.  Instead of being apologetic, the woman at the office sounded agitated and rudely said "I've already told the driver to call you."  After telling her that they hadn't she said she would contact the driver again to call me.  Twenty minutes later, still no call from the driver so I called the office again but this time they did not pick up my call.  I called about 3 times within the next 15 minutes.  I also called the local phone number (201) 773-8655 from which they call you initially for estimates and setting up move.  Still, they did not pick up my call.  I asked my BF to call both numbers from his phone and of course they picked up his call initially until they found out that he's calling on my behalf.  They no longer would pick up his call.  After two hours I gave up.  I received no apology, no phone call, NOTHING.  They left me stranded on the day of my move and I incurred fees and other expenses in preparation for a move that did not happen.  I will be reporting them to the BBB and consumer affairs.  DO NOT USE THEM..THEY ADVERTISE ALL OVER CRAIGSLIST.

  15. Bait and Switch.

Thieves! They send out an online quote and then after they load up the truck they hold you up for more charges. They say that unless you pay their inflated charges they will put your possessions in storage. Then when you speak with them they are inflexible, obstinate and rude. I would never recommend them.
