  1. Terrible.

I was waiting to see if I received a tool box that was lost in my move (they told me they found it) before writing my final review.  It never arrived.   My last minute move began with a quote from Budget.  This is the first problem.  They are middle men who quote low to get the sale, then the bad news when NW Relocation shows up and it's TRIPLE the price. He spent too much time bashing Budget and not working with his men this I felt put them behind schedule.   One of the workers didn't speak or understand English very well, he needed to be supervised but he wasn't and this caused most of my troubles with them.  He packed my moving folder with all my necessary papers, passport and money that was near my computer on the counter.  Mind you his job was to pack the kitchen items, pots, pans, etc.  When it was discovered that the folder was missing, Dan (the foreman) immediately blamed me.  Saying “that I was mistaken and often times customers say things like that and it wasn't true”. Practically yelling. He was pretty cold and unhelpful until he suddenly remembered seeing the leather folder himself.  Then he softened his tone with me. However, while unpacking the boxes, they didn’t repack carefully, my clothes got dirty and items were broken.  He also packed two bags of garbage that was smelly when I opened my boxes. Stupid and unprofessional.   When my items arrived, the delivery guy held my things hostage until I paid him in cash first.  He refused to take my items off the truck.  So I paid him.  then we were suppose to count the boxes to make sure nothing was missing, he refused to do that.  He then proceeded to hit on me asking to come back and make dinner for me and help me unpack.  I was disgusted.  Then around 10:30pm he called saying that he found a rug in his truck that belonged to me.  He said he couldn't bring it back because he was gambling and he couldn't leave his 'good winning hand’.  I had to get up and get dressed in the middle of the night to go get my rug.    In addition, most of my dishes were broken, my lamps were destroyed and my bookcase was damaged because it was never put in a box as promised.   Then finally, I called the office asking about my toolbox.  Neil said he found it and was tying to reach me.  Mind you he was calling the wrong number. He said that they would put it on the next truck down here.  When I never received it, I called and I was told that they sent it UPS.  I asked for the weigh bill number to trace it.  I was told that they lost it.  So then I said I could still find it with the credit card number that was used.  He then told me, that he paid cash so there's no record.  You tell me, what business does this?  You be the judge as to what happened to my tool box?? They stole it.   All in all, 99% of my experience was negative. .

  2. Horrible Experience.

Northwest Relocation (set up through Vanguard Relocation Services) picked up my household goods from WA to be delivered to TN.  My household goods were delivered minus two (2) boxes.  The following day I notified the moving truck driver, via text message on his cell phone, that two (2) of my boxes were missing.  I hoped that if they were still on the truck he would put them aside.  One of the boxes contained jewelry and the other name brand clothing.  I also notified my contact at Vanguard, who I set up my move through, of the missing boxes.  I was told they would try to locate the boxes and to file a claim.  A few days later, I was informed one (1) of my boxes was found.  Upon delivery of what they thought was one of my boxes I discovered that it was not one of my missing boxes but, instead a box of dirty towels! On several occasions I notified the moving company representative that the box was not mine and asked how he would like me to return the box.  To date, the moving company has not responded. On numerous occasions and to no avail I have tried to contact them on the status of locating my boxes and returning the box that does not belong to me. The moving company’s lack of effort/communication regarding the return of the box that is not mine, confirms their complete unprofessionalism in the attempt to locate my two missing boxes and general business practices.  The representatives no longer respond to my emails regarding what steps they have taken or are taking to locate my two boxes.   As referenced earlier the two boxes that were not delivered contained jewelry and expensive clothing.  Vanguard states on their website that they are committed to top level customer satisfaction. They clearly have not tried to meet a minimum standard of customer satisfaction. .

  3. Avoid at All Costs!

This was the absoolute worst move I've ever experienced, and I've moved at least 15 times. I thought I was being moved by TransUnited, who had good reviews, but they brokered my job out to these guys. To start, they didn't show up until two days  after they were supposed to, causing me to start my cross-country trip late and lose hotel deposits. They held my stuff for 65 days, one week longer than my move-in date, and even though I was given 45 days free storage by TransUnited they refused to honor more than 30 days and charged me for an extra month of storage. Because they kept my stuff an extra week I had to sleep on a beach chair (and lucky me, got to pay for the privilege!) There were several items damaged, which I expected, but they also lost two boxes, one of which held a number of irreplaceable items. They were not worth much monetarily, but had great sentimental value and I am heartbroken over their loss. After three months the company has made no attempt to locate and return those boxes and given this experience I doubt they ever will. I cannot recommend this company.

  4. Buyer Beware.

Would not EVER recommend this mover.  Unlike so many of the reviews, ours was an instate move from Salem OR to Oregon City OR.  My husband explained very early in the price negotiation process that we were looking for a mover that would pack AND move us for medical reasons on July 30th, and he reiterated this throughout the 2 months when he periodically spoke with Ryan Alexander.  We were encouraged how in the beginning Ryan did a great job of keeping us in the loop - however this changed the closer to our move date we became, until the last few weeks when we heard nothing.  On the day before the move (July 29th), we called to confirm the details when they hadn’t called as they said they would, and when Sam the dispatcher called back he asked about delaying the move to two days later (July 31st).  We explained to Sam that it was a full pack and move, which he did not know about.  We also explained that our utilities were scheduled to be turned off at the old house so delaying the move was not an option.  He explained that the full pack and move would cost more than the $1100 estimate.  He wanted to call back later that same day after he’d worked us into the schedule.  He called back later that afternoon to tell us that we were scheduled between 1:30-3:30pm the next day.  We reiterated that it was a full pack and move and he stated that he understood.  We also told him that we had packed about half of the contents ourselves.

The next day, we received a call from Sam past the scheduled time, saying that they would be late and would be there between 3:30 and 4pm.  At 4pm Sam called and said that they were finally done with the previous job and would arrive by 5pm.  When the team arrived closer to 5:30, Jesse the supervisor on the job was surprised to find out that it was a full pack and move.  He contacted the home office and gave us an estimate of $1500 to $2000 and said they would require payment in cash.  My husband quickly drove to the bank to get the cash before they closed.  As the workers began packing, Jesse explained that we were lucky because a full pack and move can cost upwards of $4000 but that he was discounting several items – specifically the boxes used.  During the packing process, it was explained that they would not pack ANYTHING liquid (vegetable oil, shampoo, laundry detergent, etc.) nor anything combustible (not only gas for our lawn mower, but even light bulbs).  These things had not been explained to us at all.

They initially said that all would fit in the truck.  So we tried using up all of the gas in the lawnmower by mowing both the back and front yards while they worked into the evening and we finally taped the lawnmower handle open to burn up the rest of the fuel.  After about 30 minutes of it running, Jesse told us to turn off the lawnmower – we assumed because enough of it was used up.  However we then learned that it was because they knew they weren’t going to have enough room for everything, including the mower.  We found out that there were items from another move on the truck when they arrived, which made less room available for our belongings.  After taking all evening packing our items we finally arrived in Oregon City at 1am, waking our new neighbors while they quickly moved items into the home.  They had explained that they would only be putting up our bed, but as exhausted as we were, we did not balk.  The next day, we spent another $83 to rent a U-Haul truck to go pick up the items we could lift ourselves into the truck, leaving behind 3 whiskey barrels of strawberry plants we’d hope to grow at our new home.

What started as an $1100 job ended up costing over $1600 with the additional money we gave to the U-Haul company.  We do not fault the Jesse and the workers for the majority of what went wrong during our move.  We hold the management – specifically Ryan Alexander and Sam responsible for not communicating many of the details – most importantly the details about ours being a PACK and MOVE project.  We’d hoped many of the troubles mentioned in many websites we would not experience because it was an intra-state move – but this was not the case.
     .

  5. WORST moving company ever!

From our pickup in Park City: -The driver of the truck could not pull into our complex, this is not our fault and somehow I got charged for distance even though I have seen countless other full length semi trailers inside of our complex. -My wife asked the driver to shrink wrap the mattress to protect it, and was verbally abused by him because he said nobody requested it and he didn't have any.  This despite that fact that the Order for Services clearly said that tape and shrink wrap would be provided for free.  -The helpless people who showed up repeatedly placed our TV (inside a box) upside down, even when instructed multiple times how to place it and to not put it upside down. -They also complained multiple times about the fact that there was no elevator, even though I told you, your dispatcher, and the driver repeatedly there was only stairs we had 3 flights that had to be navigated From the transit: -I called Saturday 6/28 to ask for status - “dispatch” didn’t have any idea who was driving or where our things were.  Said he would get information and text it to me.  Never heard back. -I called Monday 6/30 to ask - “dispatch” was yelling at someone else in a foreign language, was rude and said he would text me driver’s number - he finally did after 5 hours. -In the meantime, I called main line for NW Relocation 6 times, finally got a woman who said that I never filled out or signed documentation after pickup in PC (never even saw or heard this) and my things would not be delivered until that was resolved.   -She transferred me to someone who was supposed to send these forms to me for signing.  Left a message. -FINALLY got a text for a supposed driver, within 2 days of arriving in CA.  No clue on when I will get a date and/or time. -Paperwork was a complete debacle - my wife was not given any paperwork by the driver upon arrival for pickup, and then threatened that our things would not be delivered unless our paperwork was on file.  I had to call 3 people at NW Relocation to get paperwork FROM them, and even then the math was wrong and there were items in the paperwork that were never mentioned and/or not accurate according to the Order for Service contract that was e-signed.  Upon delivery, no surprise..the mattress was soaked and had a water stain on it.  8-10 other frames, glasses, lamps were also broken.  .

  6. Really Quick & Easy.

I used NW Relocation for a recent move from Seattle to LA and everything went great. The loading crew took great care with my belongings and wrapped them up completely. When they got to LA there was not a sratch on them. Also they were really affordable. I got like 5 different quotes and NW Relocation was easily the cheapest. I will defintely be calling NW Relocation the next time that I move.

  7. Terrible Service.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER WASTE OF MONEY, WASTE OF TIME TERRIBLE SERVICE DO NOT HIRE THEM- THEY WILL DAMAGE YOUR BELONGINGS AND WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE TO YOU AT ALL DURING YOUR MOVE Despite a late delivery, I was told there was no way my belongings could be delivered at a time I was available. Instead, I was informed that I would be charged an additional $550 for every day my belongings had to be placed in storage until the next delivery truck headed my way-- date unknown. Could be a day, could be a month. NO costumer service. They do NOT answer your calls, return your messages or emails.   YOU ARE BETTER OFF WITH ANOTHER COMPANY.

  8. I think this is the best they can do and that's sad.

Moved from CO to FL, which we had done the opposite trip of 4 years prior and received a relatively low quote over the phone based on the number of items we had to move. We weren't taking any bedroom furniture, no dining room set, mostly boxes of books and clothes and some small furniture. On the day the movers arrived, the price increased drastically. Went from a $1200 move to a $1900 move. FML. We inquired with the movers when we could expect our belongings to arrive and he said, 2 weeks. This seemed like a tolerable amount of time given that we ourselves planned on driving to FL. This is where I will tell you the single most important thing you need to know, READ THE FINE PRINT. In our haste we failed to read the details of our moving agreement. We should've known better when the price increased, but we forged ahead since we were stuck between  a rock and a hard place. The actual agreement says, that NO VERBAL AGREEMENTS are VALID. Yes that's correct, whatever the gent said on the phone about $1200 and the movers stating 2 weeks delivery time were not valid. By signing we also agreed that they had 21 BUSINESS DAYS from the first date we said we were available to accept our belongings. What's that you say, how could it take that long for cargo to make it 2000-ish miles when Google says that it should take about 30 hours if driven straight though? Oh well, also forgot to mention that the "movers' were really just fetchers. They took our stuff to a warehouse in Denver and left it there. Considering that I moved right before Thanksgiving, they legally didn't have to have to have it to me until Xmas.  They have a customer service agent named Julie who while nice is so very unprofessional saying, Mami, every other sentence. I read the horrible reviews of them after I made the initial, [EDIT] is up with my stuff after 2 weeks and decided to just not panic and to hope that Julie was telling me the truth about when our stuff would arrive and that no one would steal or lose our things. Oddly, oddly Julie called us on the day she said she would with the drivers name and phone number. Spoke with the driver and he was informative and pleasant. Our belongings arrived later than I would have preferred due to a random F-DOT stop right before arrival.  Thankfully, everything arrived intact.  For all the awfulness I have read mine seems like the best possible of a terrible company.

  9. Horribly unprofessional Liars.

This company is horrible. They gave us a quote and then when the movers got there they tried to charge more and then when I canceled because they tried to gouge us they wouldn't and still won't return the our 20% down deposit. Also they won't return phone calls and their supervisors are apparently never there. When I said that the only option left to me was to leave a review telling everyone how awful they were, Neil a representative on their customer service line said that he didn't care. I think this must be the company motto they don't care! Personally I think the $330 I'm out is worth it after reading all these reviews they probably would have lost and broken all of our stuff.

  10. Hijacked stuff.

I had NW Relocation pick up my stuff for a cross country move middle of August. It is now the 7th of Oct. and my stuff still hasn't been delivered. They don't know where it is or when it is coming. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!! They have no idea who has my stuff or where it is. They subcontracted out my move and can't even get an anwser themselves. .

  11. Worst Company.

This is how it went down. Pick up day went well (23 Aug 2013). Todays is 4 Oct 2013 and I don't hve my items. I've contacted the driver's and all I've been told is tomorrow and nothing. I'm afraid that my items are misplaced or broken. NW said oh we will take $120.00 off lol. All I ask you is my stuff and I can't get that. Some people may have had a great experience with them but do as you wish. I'm ex military and I know how moves suppose to go and it not like this.

  12. Avoid.

We contracted Northwest Relocation for our move from Denver, Colorado to Raleigh, NC. We received our initial quote from this company on 7/1/13 with a pickup day of 7/9/13. We then had an additional load which was picked up on 7/22/13, three days past the promised pickup time, forcing us to delay our move and remain in Denver while we waited. My phone calls were never returned and I was forced to make multiple calls daily to receive the slightest bit of help. My questions were repeatedly dismissed by every service agent I spoke to, all of whom frankly could care less about any of my concerns. While these experiences were unpleasant and bothersome, they were only the tip of the iceberg. Our move in date had been set at 8/1/13 since my initial contract with the company on 7/3/13. This date was confirmed at every juncture of the process without any mention of the delivery being delayed or altered in any way. I never received any follow up calls, emails or notifications of any kind, leading me to believe that everything was still on schedule. On 7/30/13, I called again to verify the delivery of our items. At this point, after a bit of arm twisting they conceded to us that our things may not be there until 14 days after the stated delivery day. While this is buried in the fine print of their quotes, it had not been mentioned a single time in any way from the plethora of representatives I had spoken to within the company. Our date of 8/1/13 was confirmed to me a minimum of 10 times without a single person mentioning the "delivery window" until after they had taken all of our things, charged us and essentially taken us hostage. We are now in an empty home with none of our things for up to two weeks. At this point Northwest Relocation has established a pattern of poor service and general disregard for customers that I find utterly unacceptable. Between service reps hanging up on us, supervisors "gone for dentist appointments" and representatives blaming us for the situation,I am disgusted with the way we have been treated.I fully understand the verbiage in regards to the delivery time is in the contract, however to not point that out or even mention it until two days prior to delivery is terribly negligent. On top of that, to take a disrespectful and almost scolding tone with a customer who simply wants to be able to start their life after giving you thousands of dollars is just wrong. We continue to call and essentially beg for anybody to talk to and help us with no results. Our things finally arrived on 8/17. The drivers were nice enough and everything was there and in decent condition, but we were so upset with the company by this point it couldn't be recovered. They didn't respond to our BBB complaint, in fact they called us and essentially threatened us for making it. The customer service manager told us we were liars multiple times and we were unable to get an official price quote until 2 days before. Overall, the lack of professionalism and general rudeness of this company was appalling. They were very slick in treating us well until we paid them and had our things, at which point a total 180 occurred. Had they been straightforward, showed they cared or empathized whatsoever I may not feel this way, but that was far from the case.Do not use this company.

  13. NW Relocations moving company.

We contacted NW Relocations to move us from OR to GA.  When we did not hear from them as we were instructed we would be, we contacted them to get confirmation of pickup date and time. They did not have us scheduled for pickup until the day after we had agreed on.  We had to spend time getting this resolved and they arranged to come the day that was originally agreed on.  The morning they were to arrive to pick up our belongings, they were supposed to be there at 9am and did not arrive until almost 11:30.  The loading of our belongings was supposed to take no more than 5 hours.  Everything was packed and in a storage unit and it took them until 8:45 that evening to get our belongings loaded.  We only had 4 days to to be in GA and since it had taken all day we now only had 3 days to drive cross country. Once the delivery finally arrived, we had several items that were broken and a box that was missing.  We contacted the company and explained that we had missing items and could not get the issue resolved.  I went from customer service to her supervisor and so on until I was passed to the owner of the company.  It took almost a week to hear back from him only to be told they were not responsible for the "lost" items.  It was like talking to a brick wall and still not resolved.   I am now in the process of contacting the Better Business Bureau in hopes that something can be done but wanted to warn everyone else to avoid dealings with this company!

  14. Major issues.

Summary, this move cost way more than quoted, took longer than quoted,  was highly unprofessional, and they lost parts which I never heard back from their "customer service".  I am not happy with my experience, and will not recommend this service to anyone.  I sent this same email to their customer service got, I never heard back, and I am still missing items:They showed up 22 days after my pickup, more time than they estimated, and arrived on a Saturday.  It was not made clear to me that cash was the only form of payment that would be expected.  They basically black mailed me for my stuff and I was unable to get the money on Saturday, so they left.  The next day the driver called  me back and said he could redeliver in the next three hours, if I could get the necessary cash pulls a $575 "re-delivery fee".  This fee is ludicrous, and I thought for sure I was being black mailed.  Because the customer service lines were not open on the weekend, I could not confirm this outrageous amount of money, was the actual fine.  I was able to get the money out on Sunday using a money gram, $731.70 greater than my original estimate.  That is absurd! The movers had also disassemble my futon in the process, and left me to reassemble, however the nuts and bolts of it were not delivered.  All of the major pieces showed up, as reported on the inventory, but none of the hardware, nor was it on the inventory.  This futon cost me $500, and is not functional without these pieces. Finally, and this is maybe the least professional aspect of my moving experience.  When the guys came back on Sunday, they complained about me living on the third floor (even though I made clear, and paid more for that), had me help them inventory and unpackage all of my materials. And then THEY HIRED PEOPLE OFF THE STREET to aid them!!  They literally had all my stuff on the curb asking for people to help them.  I was worried someone was going to run off with my stuff.  They did end up hiring someone, to help which I suspected they just paid by cash.  This person clearly wasn't trained, could have damaged or stole my stuff.  This is not an acceptable business practice.Overall, this move cost way more than quoted, took longer than quoted, lost parts, was highly unprofessional and was possible extortion.  I am not happy with my experience, and will not recommend this service to anyone.

  15. Horrible experience.

Do not use this company or you will be sorry!! I have never had a worse experience in my life. The quote more than doubled, instead of 2400 it was 5000!! They didn't even get everything on the truck, I had to get a storage unit for 2 months and had to pay them again to get the rest. All the boxes looked like went through a hurricane. They broke about 20 things, including my grandmothers china. I will never get over that!! Also had missing things. They charged about 1000 just for extra packaging that I was not told about. I was stuck with them because I only had 2 days to move , I did not know what to do. So I filed my claim. It took 3 months for them to tell me I get nothing because I signed that I recieved evrything in good condition. How do I know everything was in good condition until I unpacked!! Whitch they ask for original documents so you cannot look yo see what you signed!! This company is a joke and a scam. They do not deserve to be in business!!
