  1. Superb!

    Marquez and his team at Safeway Moving were a pleasure to deal with and were highly professional and efficient. The two movers were right on time, friendly, and courteous. They quickly and very carefully wrapped all of my furniture, including a big HDTV, and loaded my entire apartment in one hour. They were already unloading the truck by the time I met them at my new home! Their rates are incredibly reasonable, and they don't ask for extra charges. I would use them again in a heartbeat, and I urge you to stop looking for movers and give them a call.

  2. Awful Moving Experience

    The constantly assured us we would receive a call the day before actually coming to get our items and delivering - we never did. Even with constant calls from us never knew when they would come for pick up or delivery.

    The worst part was all the hidden fees. They insisted on charging us to "box" a table with a plexiglass top. The ended up putting it in without a box but we were still charged. Lots of other "items needed broken down or boxed" which really didn't need it.

    The massage chair was broken down into tiny parts and we were assured that the crew delivering would be able to put it back together. THEY DIDN'T EVEN TRY!! We had to hire someone else to put it back together.

    The table that they didn't box they said they could not put in the room we requested without taking it apart. We were willing to pay to take it apart but they refused.

    Boxes were crushed and thrown around. The delivery crew was rude and unpleasant and made the whole delivery miserable.

    I am shocked that reviewers said this was a good company. They subcontract everything. I would highly advise everyone not to go with this company.

    Add me to the long list of Nathanial’s fans. He is excellent and has a great team that sweats and hustles and takes utmost care of your stuff while moving it. No BS, they will handle smaller and larger jobs. Great quality service. Highly recommend.

  4. All Did Well!

    We lived on the first floor of our complex, and they moved us to the third floor of our other apartment with no elevator. The guys packed up our two beds in 1.5 hours and unpacked in two hours. They were efficient, careful, and in sync. They didn't have to talk and figure things out because they were efficient and knew what they were doing and worked terrific as a group. I can't be more grateful for their fantastic job.

  5. Beware - Extremely regret choosing this company

    I booked with Safeway moving systems for a recent move from Georgia to Florida (less than 500 miles). I moved a one-bedroom apartment and had what the company considered a small scale move. The carrier they engaged was Vango Van lines, which one customer service representative indicated was owned by Safeway. In summary, the move was disorganized, understaffed, and unprofessional, and I extremely regret choosing Safeway. My detailed issues were the following:

    (1) Longer than estimated move / items placed in storage over 1,000 miles from destination: In the sales process, Safeway said that my move would likely take 1-2 days due to the short distance and small amount of furniture and belongings I had. The total move took 13 days as the company re-routed my belongings from Georgia to New Jersey to wait for other moves to Florida. Upon pickup I was told by that driver that my move would be a direct delivery. After not showing up the next day, and over the course of the move, I ended up being told numerous times that my delivery would be in the next 2-3 days. Then after 2-3 days would pass, the team would revise the timeframe to be in the next week/several days. If you choose Safeway, be prepared to be displaced from your new residence for a long period of time while they re-route your belongings.

    (2) Lack of staffing: Safeway’s contract ensures a ‘professional move’; however, on pickup and delivery the company sent only one mover to handle everything (including my couch and bed). At pickup, it took the single mover approximately 9 hours to pack and load my things. After 8 hours, they finally sent a second mover because the first mover could not carry my couch or bed without assistance. Upon delivery, only a single mover came to unload my things, which took 5 hours only because myself and my family ended up putting my furniture back together ourselves and helped with the couch and bed. I’m not sure how the unloading process could have taken place without my family’s help with the larger items. My intention of hiring movers was to take the stress off myself and my family.

    (3) Extra fees: I ended up paying extra fines of ~700 dollars due to ‘long-walks’ done by the mover. Note no stairs were required in my move. Only a long hallway after using an elevator. Beware of this clause.

    (4) Unprofessional customer service team / no support during the move: While my move was in transit, the customer service team had little information to provide as to the location of my belongings or the status of the upcoming delivery. When calling Safeway or Vango, the team would not tell me status and provided little help, despite the contract stating that expert moving advice would be provided throughout the course of the move. I would recommend choosing a moving company that gives you the ability to track your belongings during a move.

    (5) Dirty and damaged belongings: Upon arrival, the mover removed certain protective wrapping from my goods before they were actually in my new residence, resulting in damage. My white desk is scratched and dented, and my cream upholstered couch and office chair have grease / oil on them due to not being properly wrapped for the complete duration of the move.

    In summary I would recommend staying away from these companies due to the reasons I’ve noted above. Their lack of professionalism, lack of execution , lack of communication , and costs left me well short of my expectations when I entered into my agreement with them. BEWARE !

  6. Great Job!

    I recently used them for a move from IL to NY. I've used multiple moving companies in the past, and the crew who came to move my household goods was by far one of the best crews I have experienced. Casey was on time and kept me updated on everything going on. Everything was loaded up quickly and packed away very carefully. Additionally, this is the first move that I've had where not a single piece of furniture was broken. Thanks so much, and I'd recommend them.

    They were super-fast, none of our stuff broke, and overall a 5-star experience. Overall I would recommend them and hope the next move will be smooth.

  8. All Did Well!

    Moving day showed up, and the workers showed up in the window I was given. Six guys and two large trucks, and they worked faster than I've ever managed to coax my friends into working when they've helped me move. I had no reason to worry about pushing the crew to move quickly, and they seemed just as motivated to get it done as I was. They were careful enough with my stuff and super-quick. The crew was friendly and did an excellent job of asking me about which things I wanted to be moved, anything I needed access to in the storage unit, etc. They also finished early, and I ended up getting moved for BELOW the estimate I was given.

  9. Move from Cincinnati to Kalamazoo

    As a moving broker, Safeway subcontracted with a local moving company - Midwestern- for our move. Midwestern did a good job with our move. However, Safeway offered no value to our moving process other than arranging with the actual mover. Promises were made regarding communication and delivery estimates. None of these were kept. I tried contacting Safeway several times during the process and none of my messages were ever returned. I would not recommend using this moving broker.

    We had to move into our grandma’s house in TX from NJ after our property mortgage went wrong. We had to go to another state. We quickly hired Safeway movers because their prices are the lowest in the market. These movers were on time, didn't damage anything, and the rate was exactly what was quoted. I wouldn't hesitate to use the movers again when I move highly recommended.

  13. Avoid at all costs

    We booked with Safeway Moving Systems LLC for our recent move from Florida to Illinois. After taking a large cut for themselves, Safeway gave the job to MMG Moving LLC, and basically washed their hands of us after that. Our belongings ended up arriving about two months after our move (despite our Safeway salesman telling us it would only take a week or two), and it was impossible to get anyone in a management position to take our call – the best I got was another Safeway salesman who pretended to be a supervisor, and yelled at me for 20 minutes about how I hadn't read the contract closely enough. In terms of pricing, they had us go through our inventory three times, and somehow still missed several large items, such that our final price was $2500 more than their initial quote. Our experience with MMG Moving was absolutely terrible as well (extremely late shipment, awful customer service and communication, unfair payment terms, broken and lost items), and Safeway did nothing to intervene on our behalf.

    I understand that things are very busy for the moving industry, with driver and truck shortages, high demand, etc. But there is absolutely no excuse for the awful customer service and communication of both of these companies (Safeway Moving and MMG Moving). Avoid them at all costs.

    From beginning to end Safeway Moving Systems made my households move an absolute breeze! They got on time and reliable in filling and dumping our items. They took the tension out of moving and made life very easy! The relocating staff took fantastic treatment and worried while relocating our belongings. They were highly respectful and effortless to deal with! Thank you for making my move simple and stress and anxiety-free! I would not hesitate to use Safeway Moving Systems again in the future.

  15. Fast Work!

    The movers helped me move from IL to TX and were quick, efficient, careful, friendly and extremely helpful. They wrapped the furniture to protect corners during the transfer of the table from the old house to the truck and then to the new home. They packed everything into the truck, and as there was still room, they added items from the backyard, like the kiddie pool and sandbox. They made a stressful move more bearable. I would definitely call Safeway Moving Systems for my next move and would not hesitate to recommend them to my friends and family.
