  1. Avoid at all cost!

Initially, we had thought that we had chosen a great company with friendly people who cared. However, once we had signed things got a lot worse very quickly. Fundamentally, the packers are paid to stuff as much as possible into boxes as quickly as they can. If they have to destroy stuff to make it fit, so be it. Whatever has only emotional value, they are happy to destroy: rip apart delicate stuff or scribble with permanent marker on wooden furniture (!) and plastic containers because they know that the insurance company will not pay for emotional value and they are too lazy to write their numbers onto something where it causes no damage. In addition, they do not have to unpack - it is a totally different crew at the other end who will always claim that it was not their fault. Lots of things got broken on the way, even solid mirror wardrobe doors, side panels of bookshelves and wardrobes etc. On top, when we were in the middle of the loading, their operations called and said that the volume was 20% higher than they had estimated (they sent around their best estimator for the quote) and that we had to pay immediately (obviously at that point you have no choice but to pay up). Because every packer works on his own room, they had no idea who did some excellent packing (which we had, too!) and who did the shoddy job. They have zero oversight or quality control of the packers. Their incentives just are not aligned with the customer's interest, but only their own. Another example: The inventory list was totally useless, not just because you couldn't read their handwriting, but also because on 80 items they used the same words ("unit parts") independently whether it is bookshelves, wardrobes or any other furniture. The people who label the boxes are not the ones who packed it a day earlier! When you try to re-assemble e.g. wardrobes or bookshelves, cabinets, desks or tables, you have no idea what belongs together because they pack what is convenient for them, not what for you as the customer. Paying them for re-assembly makes just no sense. They also wrap everything with their tape even on things where the tape destroys the surface (e.g. on outside furniture cover which was waterproof before the stuck their tape on it). Again, they just don't care because they are paid to pack and somebody else will unpack, not them. They do not even use blankets or cling film to protect your stuff, just paper sheets and boxes.

In summary: they increase the price when you have no option but to pay up and will cause lots of damage. Don't be fooled by their friendliness at the beginning. You have been warned of what is to come. To be avoided at all cost! Even one start is one too many.

  2. Worst Experience Ever!

For the sake of your sanity and your wallet, do not use this company! They lie, they fob you off, they are rude and aggressive when you try to get help, they take your money and do not send your items!
It took over 6 months to receive our furniture in the Canaries, the items eventually arrived but could not be released because Simpson´s had not paid the sea carrier or destination agent,, our furniture sat on the docks for 5 weeks!
Every phone call to them is a promise that the correct person will call you back! They never do! The managing Director Melanie Simpson does not respond to your calls or emails. We received an email to say they were going into liquidation, but according to Companies House they are still trading?
We paid 2,700 pounds upfront to Simpsons and an additional 2,600 euros to the agents here to get our items!! If they haven´t already gone bust, they deserve to! Worst experience ever!

  3. Avoid at all cost.

THEY ARE UNRELIABLE AND DISHONEST. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND YOU WON'T GET A REFUND. AFTERWARDS THEY WILL TELL YOU THAT THEY WERE PLACED UNDER LIQUIDATION. We paid them to move our furniture from London to Cape Town. After 6 months I had to get another company to ship our goods as they had kept it at their warehouse the entire time. They don't respond to emails or phone calls. Lost almost £3000. Very unprofessional and our goods were not even professionally wrapped. I would rather do business with Somali pirates than these dishonest people. They deserve no stars at all. Reported them to Trading Standards. They dishonestly took my money knowing that they were not able to ship my goods. In my opinion this is clearly criminal behaviour which should be investigated by the police.

  4. Simpson’s removals do not use.

Do not use this company we have repeatedly tried to get our money back and Melanie Simpson, Director has not had the decency to return my calls. Accounts department never in office and extremely disappointed.
My advice is to to stay away.

  5. Worst experience!

Was our worst experience! We moved to Cyprus last year at the end of Jan 2018 and were told that the shared container would arrive 6 - 8 weeks later. So we planned to get the house cleared on 16th Jan and expected the stuff to arrive latest at the end of March. Which would be 10 weeks - due to winter time and less movings. But it arrived another 6 weeks later!! We had to live from 2 suitcases in an empty house for 4 months. Worst time ever!! Luckily I could work with my laptop - services over the internet, but my partner couldn´t because of lack of equipment. So we lost a lot of money! When we finally got the message that our container was shipped - there was a sudden incident in one harbour - the crane got broken!! What a stupid lie!! There are several cranes on a harbour and not just one, so there is enough substitution. It was just to stop us calling - and another 2 weeks of delay. Of course we had to pay the company at the harbour also (like the review before) and this one they don´t tell you.
In the end when the things arrived - there were many things lost. At least 1 or 2 boxes. Because they didn´t arrive in the wooden crate anymore in which they were collected. So they were single boxes and stuff and you can´t control everything immediately. And we had to work under pressure and needed time to open all boxes - that needed longer than 4 weeks. I was also tired of speaking to them. The men tried to be quite helpful and friendly, but the women were really unfriendly and never answered a mail after 2 approaches.
So I never let them know that some things were missing - just after some time some things came up in our mind that haven´t arrived. Finally my desk chair got broken after a couple of weeks. Because the things I guess were not really moved carefully, so the chair leg got a crack and I fell down on the stone floor. Could have broken everything or be dead - there was a wooden cabinet next to my head.
    So DON`T USE this company.

  6. Getting a quote.

These people are a joke and I would not recommend them to a nat. Asked for a quote which I eventually received to move from Kent to Northern Ireland. Contacted them to accept the quote and arrange the move date. Kept trying to contact them by email to arrange the date. Eventually got them on the phone and the person dealing with my move was on leave and it appears no one was picking up his work, very steptoe and son. Was told some one would ring me the next day. 2 days later no one had rang so I rang them only to be told by some snot nose woman that they where not taking anymore bookings. Totally left in the lurch and all I can say is they are a shower of W**ers.

  7. Simple incompetence.

I am really disappointed by Simpsons Removal Office.

I have signed up with them because I was assured that a load was planned in Scandinavia end of March. I have gone through the whole process (without any explanation of how things were done - the only person who explained a bit things was the guy picking up my stuff!) of documentation, insurance and paying the full amount, and right after the final payment they told me that my stuff won't arrive for another 4 weeks !! Without apologies, without any compensation.

It is very different to pack stuff in order to receive them the following week, and when you pack to receive them the following month! And even after 10 days of changing, they are incapable of giving us a FIXED DATE.

The only good thing was the picking up of boxes (which were announced at 7.30AM in the morning without picking-up hour slot - so not helpful). The removers were nice, although sometimes a bit quick, and even dropped a box..

Let's see what will happen during the delivery now.. If that will happen one day!

  8. Took much of the stress out of moving.

We received a competitive quote from Simpsons for packing and moving to our new (local) home.
The two packers, Chris and Webster, worked really hard on the day before the move and were very professional.
On the move day the team of 4 again worked to ensure we got in and that the furniture and boxes were in the right rooms.
The excellent packing ensured that our fragile items were undamaged.
    I would recommend them.

  9. Relocate to Spain.

Simpsons were first class in every way. They collected my home contents on time and delivered them to Spain at exactly the time I had hoped for. They were professional and courteous from the office staff to the delivery guys. And my belongings were stored and transported with the utmost care. I would recommend their services to anyone considering a move.
    Steven and Jan.

  10. Fantastic team.

This is the second time we have used Simpsons – once to move us to Portugal and this week to move us back. From the start, the dealings with the office were seamless – even when we had a change of heart and asked them to redirect our belongings directly to the UK when they were en route to France. Once here, the four-men team were brilliant – efficient and courteous and without fault. Thank you to Sue and the office team and Paul and his crew. It made what can be a stressful time, a happy experience. Best of luck to you all – Julie and Antony.

  11. Avoid at all costs.

The title says it all. Simpsons is not reliable, does not taking care of your belongings, rude and their account team is non-responsive to say the least.
I hired Simpsons last July to move my furniture from two flats in the UK to one destination in France. At first, Simpsons sales were very responsive, and modified a few times their quote based on my specific requirements. It was really fast, and Stewart reassured me. My company was supposed to pay for the move, but when discussions took place we all discovered that the process would be too long for my company to pay on time before the date of the move. I offered to pay for the move and get the money back from Simpsons once my company paid them. Both parties agreed and I had assurance from Simpson that I would get my money back as soon as my company settles the bill a second time.. how naive of me! My company paid in September, and since that date, I have been e-mailing and phoning Simpsons every week to get my money back without success. So I am 13K down at the moment and all I have are this sort of comments from accounts: "I am not responsible for when the director decides to settle the account". At this stage this is stealing!
In addition, the move itself, which started ok with professional people, became a disaster  from my second flat. All pieces of furniture had to be dismantled by myself to avoid them being broken. I bought the packing service and they ways were packed at my second flat was a disgrace. As an example, kitchen drawer were taken and poured into a box - as simple as this. The alcantara sofas, designer plastique chairs, paintings were just dragged out of the flat, into the oily underground car park, unprotected, and put in the lorry like this with a few dirty blankets to try and protect them - The result? Everything was dirty and damaged. And finally, the staff was rude at times, not really happy to do their job. In short AVOID!

  12. Never Use This Company.

We made the mistake of ignoring bad reviews and went with Simpsons because of the competitive price they offered. Their salesman Ersin assured us that our shipment would arrive in 5-8 weeks. It is now over 3 months since we had our things collected by the company, and it still hasn’t left their warehouse in Kent. They do not respond to emails or phone calls, they make up millions of excuses, their number one concern is making as much money as possible while you languish without your things in another country. We have begged, we have pleaded, and we are now considering legal action if the matter is not resolved swiftly. Please, save yourselves.

  13. I would advise to avoid.

    Pros
    No broken possessions.
    Pick up was very professional.

    Cons
Once you're out of the country, the 6-8 weeks delivery time becomes the delivery time once it has made it to a boat, for which they have no specific date in mind. They will lie to you to get your business.
You then start calling them to ask when it will be delivered and they send you form emails inviting you to spend an additional 50% of the original cost for them to send it now.
They lie to you about a date.
    The date passes.
They're not sure why it was not sent.
    You threaten legal action.
They send your shipment with a third party company after holding it for 11 months.

  14. Moving from Spain to the USA.

I contracted Simpsons for my move from Spain to Houston, Texas this past June. The company picked up my shipment the end of June, and I paid I full at that time. My shipment took a while to leave for the USA, as they were waiting for ships going that direction, and it finally arrived 2 months later in the USA August 31st. The company contracted a US mover to deliver my shipment to me in Houston. Things were taking a while on that end, and I wasn't sure why until recently. The shipment finally arrived in Houston a little over a week ago, but the US company said they can't release it to me because Simpsons hasn't paid them! I call Simpsons every day, and so does the US company, and we can never speak to the people in charge, and they never return our calls. Definitely do not contract Simpsons. I see from the recent reviews this is happening to a lot of their customers.

  15. Very unprofessional moving company!

After almost 5 months I still do not have a delivery date for my shipment. They keep finding excuses even I told them many times that it is unacceptable for me to wait so long since I urgently need things that are related to my work and also winter clothes.

    Very, very unprofessional!
